If that is true, that means Cal is holding our coaching search hostage.
KSR this morning said that he can’t until Cal tells them he is going. They said we can’t even contact our recruits to reassure the about a future coach.
That means Barnhart is holding us hostage. There is no legal reason not to start interviewing and offering. Find whatever manner Cal violated his contract, and fire him now.
Cal’s bluff got called and now he has to go to Arkansas, a place he doesn’t even want to be LOL. Couldn’t happen to a nicer scam artist. And if he doesn’t go? We fire him for breach of contract. This is so awesome!!!
This is a spectacularly uninformed take. Mitch is being 100% sure he’s not violating the contract in any way; because this is getting very ugly.

Your nuts, Im not a Barney fan but until Cal is gone he is still under contract under the contract that everyone hates. Once its done. It frees up 10 000,000 a year to get who you want.
Cal can't wait on this much longer. Sure, it's being held up by Cal, but it won't be for long. Arkansas isn't gonna want to wait either, he's just going to have to go there and get the paycheck for now, whatever that may be. If a few days pass I expect Mitch to just proceed with the hiring process.

As others have pointed out Mitch needs to do everything legally so no lawsuits can come back on UK and make the school look bad, simple as that.

I’m sure CAL’s contract has a clause in it that he would be paid in full if KY were to go and interview or offer the job to someone else before he is officially gone. Barnhart can’t fire him without getting into a legal battle over the buyout etc etc.

I think it's possible there are $33M reasons why we can't start. If Cal is still officially our coach, and Mitch contacts about the position, then that potentially could mean UK breaks the contract and owes him the $33M.
I have for years been, it seems, one of the sole defenders of MB. I will say....contingent upon the ultimate hire....I feel totally vindicated in my belief that MB is and has been a better AD than Tom Jurich whom many of our fans seemed to have fallen for the hype.
