That means Barnhart is holding us hostage. There is no legal reason not to start interviewing and offering. Find whatever manner Cal violated his contract, and fire him now.
That'll inspire big names to come running

Do people even think before posting this stupid nonsense? Yes, because a messy, lawsuit filled court case would make things MUCH better and surely attract all of the big name coaches to UK.

Yes there is. If Mitch starts before Cal to Arkansas is official it can probably be used against him if Cal tries to argue he was actually fired.

None of these talking heads including the self-proclaimed discord ones have any clue whatsoever what is going on. They've been continually wrong with everything they've said...er, guessed at.

If that is true, that means Cal is holding our coaching search hostage.
Assuming it comes today as has been reported what difference does a day or two really make? UK has known since Sunday night. They are already currently discussing strategy, order of coaches, etc.

Your nuts, Im not a Barney fan but until Cal is gone he is still under contract under the contract that everyone hates. Once its done. It frees up 10 000,000 a year to get who you want.

Cal can't wait on this much longer. Sure, it's being held up by Cal, but it won't be for long. Arkansas isn't gonna want to wait either, he's just going to have to go there and get the paycheck for now, whatever that may be. If a few days pass I expect Mitch to just proceed with the hiring process.

I'm sure UK hasn't made any calls to potential HC's.

As others have pointed out Mitch needs to do everything legally so no lawsuits can come back on UK and make the school look bad, simple as that.

Cal’s bluff got called and now he has to go to Arkansas, a place he doesn’t even want to be LOL. Couldn’t happen to a nicer scam artist. And if he doesn’t go? We fire him for breach of contract. This is so awesome!!!
Even at 50 I can still voluntarily admit it's quite unhealthy how high I get with news like this and how low I get with things like cows last 5 years here. Better than anything lmao

That is true. I don't see why Barnhart just can't publicly fire his *** for breach of contract.

I’m sure CAL’s contract has a clause in it that he would be paid in full if KY were to go and interview or offer the job to someone else before he is officially gone. Barnhart can’t fire him without getting into a legal battle over the buyout etc etc.

Mitch might have actually pulled off a brilliant move by manipulating Cal into this hilarious situation where Mitch now has him by the balls for once. Cal is shook.
Mitch with the master-level poker move! Barnhart's recent moves reassuring everyone, including Cal, that he wanted Cal here, set the trap. Appears Mitch actually induced Cal into making a bluff (match Arkansas offer) that Cal never thought would be called.

Mitch the master?

KSR this morning said that he can’t until Cal tells them he is going. They said we can’t even contact our recruits to reassure the about a future coach.
Cal quit... about 30 mins ago (iirc)... and MB has responded wishing him well.

I think it's possible there are $33M reasons why we can't start. If Cal is still officially our coach, and Mitch contacts about the position, then that potentially could mean UK breaks the contract and owes him the $33M.

Have you seen the board? Cal just quit.

I have for years been, it seems, one of the sole defenders of MB. I will say....contingent upon the ultimate hire....I feel totally vindicated in my belief that MB is and has been a better AD than Tom Jurich whom many of our fans seemed to have fallen for the hype.

Jurich was his own best PR agent and played the CJ and LHL for every ounce of praise. MB was treated like a little kid...sadly...by our own fans. MB has been and still is a whipping boy based on IGNORANCE.

So my support of MB goes back 20 years. Maybe now MB will get his due.
