I don't believe this situation has been discussed around here. Like many golf fans, I've always liked Kooch......but even though he finally said publically he was going to pay the Mexican caddy his "demands", it's hard to imagine this situation won't stick to him for at least awhile.

JMO, I think he'd be well advised to pay El Tucan the full $130K his full-time guy would have earned for the win (rather than the $50K the caddy asked for). Obviously, easy for me to say that......but Kooch is going to be around for awhile, and it seems to me sending El Tucan an even bigger olive branch would help blunt some of this self-induced criticism. Cheap just isn't a good look for a successful Tour pro.

I've heard/read MK's current annual income from all sources exceeds $10 million; obviously, he's not going to make that for the rest of his playing career. But with that kind of current income stream, something like this $130K strikes me as a relatively small price to pay to call off (to at least some extent) these fairly loud dogs.

I tried to mention it but no one bit on my previous comment.

I find it shameful that MK has received so much grief. I think he handled the situation incorrectly but dang, he has proven time and time again he is one of the good guys. He may not be the most sophisticated on how the world sees things controversial like his act and may not have received the proper advice to nip it in the bud. But now, he has made good and paying the caddie what he wanted and I sure hope it is over with. But I'm afraid it will stick to him a little.

Kucher hadn't made the cut, I think $3000 is the usual fee. optics were bad.

I haven’t read any articles, I only know what a friend told me about the situation.

His regular caddy makes $2 million a year. His regular caddy couldn’t pay the substitute?

No way his regular caddy makes 2 mill a year from caddying. The caddy has a contract with the pro. There's a minimum in case pro doesn't make the cut. If he makes the cut 5-6%, I think. If the pro wins, there's a bonus and it goes to 10%. MK would have to win 15 tournaments for his caddy to get to close to 2 mill.

Kooch should just stick to his guns. If the caddy was worth it, he should pay. We don’t know what the guy was like on his bag.
