You have to figure this off season is CALs most important since arriving at Ky. His ego and stubbornness hopefully will light a fire under his *** to change things and get KY back to the GOLD standard. If next season is a bust, the fans will put so much pressure on Barnhart and CAL something will give.

I think this is a critical week

primarily because everyone has a natural reaction to view the year as a whole at the end of the season. Our season ended faster than any time before in Cal's history and in any UK fan has had to go back a long ways to remember a time when we didn't have some kind of post season activity, especially if you exclude probation.

Matt did something very important, and that is he framed the voice of the fan in such a way that he is probably getting more alignment than he has ever had in the fanbase falling behind him on this topic.

And the UK administration is going to hear it, hell, I"m sure they have been hearing it all season long, and setting aside the political nature of it, no administration likes to be dragged into controversy, especially one that pits them against the residents of the state it represents and gets funding from.

So the question is, how much rope does Cal have, how much goodwill does past success carry him? I"m not talking about getting fired, that isn't going to happen. I"m talking about Mitch coming in and shortening his leash. Assistant coaches, political statements, player rotations, recruiting, transfers, etc.

And don't try to tell me Mitch can't tell Cal what to do - go read the his contract. He answers to Mitch, serves at the request of Mitch, and after a 9-16 season, Cal doesn't have the breadth of support to go into battle mode with his AD.

So what Matt has done is galvanize the fan base a bit more, and has a platform to tell the administration what a group of scattered message board folks may not be as effective at. I would bet money the administration, along with all the other points of input from influencers regarding the University of Kentucky, is listening and will be acting.

Matt was asked what would happen if we had another season like this next year. Matt said that it didn't matter what he thought. He said this fan base will not tolerate another season like this one, and that it would get very very toxic. So much so that the administration would have to address it.

I believe he's right.

Listening to it................Jones got on Cal pretty hard, but then as always turned it toward Trump (he hates Trump....did you know that?).

I didn't hear any comments from Matt on the "Deer in the Headlights" Commander in Chief we have now.

I knew he would have to throw Trump into the conversation. He can't help himself.

I voted for Trump twice. Doesn't mean what Matt said was wrong. Trump couldn't stay out of his own way or he'd still he president. But anyway.

Yeah I noticed that also about Cals presser. Blamed Allen for not calling a switch but there were a couple other guys right there. Did say Brooks should have went over what about the bigs who gave up 30 pts in paint 1st half.

Cal also said he doesn't care about wins and losses as long as he prepares the kids for what's next in their life .
This is the very reason the fans will NEVER embrace him going forward. Cal is twisted and should be fired. I'm sure there is some covenant in his contract that would preclude UK buying out the contract balance if he admits he doesn't care about wins and losses. WTF? Get this CLOWN outta here.

It's that he had to bring Trump up in a conversation of how bad this season was and how Cal handled it.

Why not use Cuomo and how no one can tell him anything? He's been in the news more recently than Trump. Of course not.

That's all my point was. He will turn something political and always take a shot at a conservative, no matter the topic.

Matt blasted Cal over the Allen thing all year. Cal is frustrated with the fanbase, and he uses Allen as a pawn over it. The very first thing Cal said in the post game press conference was that Allen missed a screen. Matt said "THEY'VE ALL BEEN MISSING SCREENS. WE ARE 9-16. ALLEN SCORED 23 POINTS"

Matt was spot on. I'd recommend catching the podcast.
In other words Cal is focused on Allen's mistakes when he plays, while only focusing on the positives of Boston and Askew. I hope Allen stays, but it's hard for a coach to change that bias once he has it in for the kid. You can argue with me all you want, but if a kid scores 23 off the bench and the first thing out of your mouth is a missed screen, then your whole focus is trying to find a reason to take the kid out.

His unwillingness to stop mixing his political view with UK sports. People don't read KSR for political advice or seeking his political insight. When many asked that he keep it to sports, he refused. That decision had consequences. He is a selfish, self-serving prick that uses UK sports to draw the crowd and then lob his political droppings into the crowd, with malice, for those who don't agree. Only a righteous prick does that. To do so demonstrates his lack for respect, in a wholesale way, to anyone with a different take on things. Then he asks UK fans to patronize KS Bar and buy UK gear from him? I will not ever and that makes him organically stupid because I know many, many lifelong UK fans that feel the same way and will not step foot in his ******** place of business and will not listen to the radio program.

There’s all kinds of coaches that could coach here and win at a very high level. By high level, I mean winning national titles. Any competent coach would be better than we had this past season.
This season was a miserable one but not just any coach can come to UK and win titles. UK would eat them up especially with a fan base that hangs on the coaches every word.
There is not many out there that can manage the fans/media and coach at a high level to the satisfaction of our fans.
The names that are brought up on this board are coaching at places with no pressure and can get away with things that you just can’t here like multiple double digit loss seasons.

Matt nailed it when he talked about the contract that Cal has. No one in their mind would have turned that down. The problem was it was offered. Cal doesn't have to do anything for three or four more years, nothing. We can go winless for those next three years and the money isn't there to buy him out. I can't believe this contract was ever written and offered.
Never seen a Barney contract before, huh

I didn’t say just any coach. Five coaches have won titles here. Just spinning our wheels with Cal. He will never win another title here. Even if he builds a contender, they will do everything in their power to derail them from winning it. Just the way it is.

You think Cal is managing the fanbase/media and coaching at a high level, satisfactory of the fans?! Sorry, but I fail to see your point.

You're a smart poster. Mean that. But you can''t really believe that Cal is the only option for UK. Come on.
Also, Cal isn't handling it like he used to. When everyone was drinking his kool aid, he was fine. As soon as folks started to push back on him he started with the snide remarks toward fans.
UK, UCLA, UNC, and Duke account for 29 of the 80 NCAA titles in history. These schools have maintained (UCLA excluded) winning all these years. Why some think UK has to have Cal to maintain that is a mystery to me.

Cal is the only option right now. For 54 million reasons.

I don't care that much about his handling of the fans. I just want him to go all in on building the best college basketball team/program that he can. Some of that is recruiting, but a lot of it is coaching. I don't want him to think about the draft at all. I just want him doing whatever he can to win college basketball games and championships. Short of that, I want him gone.
