Does he?! I reckon DeAaron Fox is a liar, too, right?!
Yes lol of course he is. None of these dudes are telling the truth when a mic in in front of them. Fox said that because of Wenyen saying he doesn't let guys do what they can. A week later a video of Fox comes out of him saying Cal lets guys do whatever they want. Juts put 2 and 2 together. Maybe you didn't notice how it unfolded but I knew Fox was lying when it came out. Cal has never let guys play like they want. If that was the case we'd shoot a lot more than 12 threes a game.

He's lying. Of course he cares about wins and losses. No need to get worked up over coach speak. He's recruiting a he's saying that its all coach speak. That video of him saying that will be played in the homes of multiple recruits over the summer.
Nobody wants to listen to his garbage after shitting the bed like he did this year. It's gotten past the point of being old.

So Matt said what I, and many others, have been saying all season long? Yet, there’s still a segment of our base that says Cal never treated Dontaie unfairly. They then proceed to copy whatever Cal says as to why his PT vanished. You can’t make this **** up. Some of our fans ARE robots, programmed to think and talk just like the coach.
Just like when I mentioned him bringing up Dontaie banking in threes this week when referring to the first Miss St game. No coach does that, and Cal would only do it when referring to Dontaie.
Some fans worship of Cal has blinded them.

If Cal drives Allen away, he's going to have one hell of a time ever repairing the relationship with the fans even if he goes back to winning.
THIS!!!!! There was two moments this season that I jumped out of my seat and felt the passion I usually feel for UK basketball. Just two!! Both of those when Allen went off, not only because hes a Kentucky kid but more because of how hes been treated and to be honest every time he hit a shot it felt like a big F you to cal from the fanbase and I shouldn't have enjoyed it but i did. That in itself let's you know there is a fracture between fans and the program.

He literally said he wouldn't kneel but they have a right to and people should leave it alone. He said he understands why people are mad but they have a right to do whatever they want and to stop watching and supporting over a freedom of speech issue is ridiculous. At least pretend to know what you are talking about.
He also spent his first 2 shows after the kneeling trying to convince the fanbase not to be upset about it. Every call against the kneeling he tried to persuade them to the perspective of being fine with it and supporting the team. Every call that came in in support of kneeling he gave a here, here to and moved along. He did not play devils advocate for the contrary position. He routinely interjects his politics and promotes his own political agenda.

You are 100% right...Jones had a spot on take.

Will be interested to see what Cal does here. Jones had been more critical of Cal this year than ever before....rightfully so.

I think Cal will change.
Honest question. Do you really believe he will change? Based on what? Something he has said or done? I am honeslty asking.

I think Dontaie should have played more early, and should have played more in general, but he DID shoot 2/15 from three in February and March before yesterday, and he really did look pretty bad in some games. I think you have to let a guy play through it more like he did with others, but in that moment when we looked like we might be putting something together, it was being done without Dontaie on the court. I'd have loved to see more of him, but I also think the fans overinflated the hype for what Dontaie could consistently do for us this year. But Cal better damn well keep the kid around because he can become a game in game out big time scorer.
During that stretch look at how his mins were broken up. He’d get a min or two in the first half before a media timeout. Then a few more mins here or there. Never enough to get a rhythm. Then the coach screaming shoooooot everytime he touches the ball. Then telling the media “ we’ve got guys who are open and won’t shoot, if they don’t shoot I’m taking them out.”
Hard to imagine why he couldn’t get it going.

LMAO WOW!
Everything that comes out of our guys mouths or on social media is monitored. As soon as Wenyen started trashing Cal I'm sure Cal called Fox up and asked him to say something nice about him and the program so Fox was like "Yea Cal lets guys come in and play to their strengths and use a modern ISO nba style offense"

Thats all a lie. At no point has this offense ever been modern or ISO based.

This is going be an intense offseason. Every little thing Cal does or says will be closely watched by BBN. He’s brought a lot of this on himself by putting his foot in his mouth constantly this season. The handling of Allen has been bad. Quick to throw him under the bus, but bends over backwards for others.

The more I hear about Payne, the more I miss him. Cal clearly needs someone who’s willing to call out his bs.

He didn't try to persuade anyone not to be mad he just said that theres no reason to boycott the program. He said over and over again "I understand why people are angry."

Cal also said he doesn't care about wins and losses as long as he prepares the kids for what's next in their life .
[/QUOTE]

This is a pathetic statement every coach makes when they are lost, miserable after a horrible season. Any sport at the HS or College level. They are talking out loud and trying to justify and placate themselves. When you are making $9M in terms of salary to coach a basketball team, the results on the court are what matter most--the nonsense coaches in college say about "wanting to prepare them for life" is condescending. You get to choose your roster, so you get to know people and who goes out looking for a$$holes? This "great kids" nonsense is tiresome. Your life lessons are out there for athletes to see what you are about. What Cal's teaching young guys right now--be fat, lazy, rest on past success, talk of what you did, throw lazy recruiting talk like "This isn't for everybody" etc...... and keep telling guys "Act like you won" after losing games. Contrast that with the best coach in all of college sports Nick Saban who tells his players "winning and losing is the result of your preparation, commitment and attitude. If you want to get an outcome, work to earn it. If you refuse to do that, it's on you, and that brings about change--either you change or we change your role".

Want to make a difference as a HC-win. Nobody listens to or seeks help from losers. Not saying Cal is that--but it's just reality in the industry.

Matt blasted Cal over the Allen thing all year. Cal is frustrated with the fanbase, and he uses Allen as a pawn over it. The very first thing Cal said in the post game press conference was that Allen missed a screen. Matt said "THEY'VE ALL BEEN MISSING SCREENS. WE ARE 9-16. ALLEN SCORED 23 POINTS"

Matt was spot on. I'd recommend catching the podcast.
So it took 9-16 for Jones to see things? Jones is likely only pandering to disgruntled fans that he fears will no longer tune into his show.
I don't trust him.
Sounds like he said all the right things though. Good. It needs to be said and said loudly.

He had no one all season who would call him out for his ridiculous coaching errors. He needs to worry about the team, the roster makeup, and the offense this offseason and leave the fans alone.

Is Matt supposed to call out Cal when we are a top 10 team every season winning 30+ games a year lmao......"so it took 9-16" what kind of dumb **** that would be to call out a coach after being in the top 10 and winning 30 games.....

Yeah I noticed that also about Cals presser. Blamed Allen for not calling a switch but there were a couple other guys right there. Did say Brooks should have went over what about the bigs who gave up 30 pts in paint 1st half.

Cal also said he doesn't care about wins and losses as long as he prepares the kids for what's next in their life .
Yet some think he should get another because he will "change". He won't.

Yes which is a lie too. He's lying and Fox is lying dude. A guy who screams and cusses like he does and freaks out over everything isn't someone who "doesn't care about wins and losses."

He absolutely did and he stopped discussing it when he saw the opposing argument was being persuasive to the audience and he was failing at turning it around.

Matt Jones drives as much division in our fanbase as Cal does. He interjects his politics into what we are all passionate about. Jones has made a great career off of the UK fanbase and he has manipulated his politics into it. IF Cal and the team had similarly came out in support of a similar right wing movement Jones would have lost his mind.

This is dumbest thing I have seen. Maybe dumber than playing Askew 30 minutes. I don't agree with Matt's politics, but he rarely talks about it on his show. If he does, its nothing serious or persuading people to vote a certain way. KSR has the largest following of any show of its kind in the nation. People drive for hours just to listen to their show live. The Leach Report would get 3 people to show up.

KSR is great for the fan-base.

Cal talks about servant leadership. Maybe he should try it himself. He should try being a servant to the university and people who pay his salary. Instead of being a self serving, egotistical, jerk.
He screwed over Allen all year. The selfish UK fan in me wants Allen to come back next year. But my gut tells me he should leave and go somewhere he will be given a fair shake.

He spent an entire day letting people call and say what they wanted to but he drew the line at the idiots who said "ohh uhm dun wutchin thus hurr teeeyum...duhhh tey auhlllll suyuckkk"

After every person called he said "I understand why you are upset but don't take it out on the players if they are willing to listen to you then you should be willing to listen to them"

Yeah, he needs to leave the fans out of this and self reflect. He just lead the UK basketball team to a total of 9 wins in the most embarrassing season possible. I never thought I’d see something like that in my life. An NIT appearance here and there, sure that happens, but going 9-16 is unacceptable.

Cal needs to look at the program form top to bottom and see what can be changed to keep UK at the top of the pack. Cal always talks about needing to look in the mirror and do what’s best for the team, it’s his time to do that as well. If Payne is someone he trusts, I hope Kenny sits him down and asks “what the f**k have you been thinking?”

Its also the media's fault as well......they refuse to call him out. Yesterday Kyle Tucker tried to say something about the future of the program and Cal just shot him down and Kyle shut up and took it......no you need to stay on his *** about it and tell him he makes 8 million a year to answer these hard questions.

Wrong, the fanbase built Matt Jones not the other way around, its been there the whole time. He saw a thirst for UK info and to his credit put it in an entertaining and accessible format that was appealing. He has since used it to push his political agenda and promote himself and his endeavors. He speaks about his politics on his show, he appears on shows on MSNBC and Bill Maher pushing the liberal perspective and he wrote a book trying to take down Mitch McConnel after considering running against him. Its tiresome and divisive.

His appearances on those shows have nothing to do with KSR. You just hate him because he has different views than you. He is the voice of UK Basketball and Football, and sorry buddy, he will be for a long time. So it is probably best for you to get over it. He never talks serious politics on his daytime show.

Cal got a shield this year with Covid and the different guidelines. I don’t think he gets that next season with (hopefully) full capacity arenas and more press allowed in the building.

I think the media started questioning him more this year, but no one went full court pressure like you said. It’ll come though if Cal makes no changes.
