Two years ago I went to Meijers to pick up a few items. I was with my SIL and grandsons. I was waiting at the deli counter when he walked up to me and looked at my UK hat. He said, "Do you know me?" I just replied not really......he went on about some kind of song. I kind of wandered off and left him with my SIL. I saw him there another time but was able to avoid him. Hell, I have performed on stage at small events......I have never walked up and asked someone if they knew me....
Reminds me of Will Ferrell in Anchorman. "I'm a pretty big deal."

I've been bashing Matt in thread but honestly it boils down to one thing, I truly believe that this board is full of good people with their own story, we joke with each other. Not all of of the people here have an outlet for sports, and life like you do, I have a very limited social life beyond this board I'm not too proud to admit that. I guess that's just life of someone in rural Eastern Kentucky with a disabled child, but I wouldn't trade my life for anyone's I'm the luckiest man in the world, I'm thankful for everything I have.

So that's what gets me riled up, I can't stand when someone feels like they are better than me, I've had had a rough life man, and I'm just drunk enough to talk about it tonight.

I was born dirt poor, I have five brothers and three sisters, we lived in a one bedroom log cabin with no running water with until I was fifteen, we took our dumps in a outhouse. I was physically abused growing up, I had to deal with kids making fun of my dirty arms in school, (this was in the 90's). Those beatings I got affect me physically and mentally everyday, the kids picking on me still affect me socially. I'm no snowflake I grit my teeth and go on like a man does, I don't blame anyone, that's the card I was dealt, I've rised above it.

I've seen stuff in my life you couldn't comprehend, some of the worst of it I can't even talk about on here. I grew up to fight back at any attack made at me and my family and friends. I just don't take well to someone mocking me, to you Matt Jones and Ryan Lemond I'm just a user name, but like me and everyone else on here we have a story. So while you preach tolerance on your radio show remember that we are people just like you are, some of us just weren't as blessed as you are.
Start a thread on the paddock about your life. I'd read it.

I'm just a white guy with a dog.

Respect. That's the life many people in rural KY live and sadly no ones gonna feel sorry for ya, they have their own lives to worry about.. You just gotta keep going strong

You're exactly right nobody is gonna feel sorry for you, and if you get to feeling sorry for yourself or you get caught in a rut that's hard to get out of. You can turn to drugs like many do, or chug along like I've done.
I'm only 17, but I've had my share of bad luck and it made me turn to bud. It wasnt anything long term, just temporarily numbing the pain I couldn't get rid of.

But I found out smoking only makes it 10x worse. I'm proud to say I haven't lit up in a year and don't ever wanna go back. Still smoke 3-4 cigs a day, not bad at all. See we've all got a past, it's just how you bounce back and learn from it.

Weed > tobacco

Quit the cigs. And just toke a bowl from time to time. Trust me way better than the cancer you're giving yourself

A pack a week is not bad at all. And physically, weed is healthier than cigs.. But not mentally, emotionally, physchologically, etc... It had me messed up for a while and I ain't going back.

Any amount is bad. And I'm a smoker.

To be fair, he had to "stop" Kentucky Joe. Dude was going insane, and really thought he was a celebrity.
I remember Matt kinda being a douche to Joe before his health issues. When did he become an egomaniac and what exactly happened? The rise and fall of KY Joe really fascinates me LOL

I don't wanna dive too far into the Matt Jones' thing, because it's a Rupp Rafter rabbit hole where once you jump in it can be hard to pull yourself out.

But there have been things that have caused me to re-assess how much credibility he deserves. As just one instance, I can recall him reading on the radio Rupp Rafter excerpts that he claimed were verbatim examples of crazy Rupp Rafter posts, when in reality he was blatantly making up and adding phony extra words to try to make us look dumber. You know, Matt, don't get pissy about us twisting your words if you're gonna do the same to us.

And, as others have noted in the past, there also has been a recurring issue in the past where he claims credit for info or words that he, in truth, seemed to lift from other sources or posts.

I have news for you, there are more children abused in Cities, living in poverty than in rural areas, the misconception that everyone in the country has a life like KK is BS.Stereo-Types caused by journalists with no integrity.

Just mentioned on KSR that this board doesn't represent fan base well, but Twitter is where the REAL fans are... Says it's basically a bunch of old timers on here griping. The thing is most of us on that thread were pretty reasonable
Let me say first that I am a avid listener to the KSR show. I enjoy their mixture of sports and craziness. However for Matt to portray message board members as if something is wrong with them is a little hypocritical considering where he came from. Matt is arrogant and very sure his opinion is the one that matters but aren't we all like this in a way ? We all want to believe that our opinions matter. KSR has turned into a empire and it's important I think to remember that Ryan Shannon Drew and company are employed by Matt and these people can't afford to take Matt on as at the end of the day he is their boss.. I do believe Matt has a big heart and "I can't believe I'm saying this" he and I agree on most everything politically which opens himself up for attack. It takes alot of guts for Matt to put himself out there with his politics because more often than not your just opening yourself up for attack. Let us all agree on this. Matt certainly stirs the pot and gets dialog back and forth from all sides and at the end of the day is that a bad thing ? Can we as regular people have discussions about anything "alot we may not agree on" but still part as friends ? Matt shouldn't portray message board folks as being some sort of lepards for it's important to remember from which you come Matt from which you come ?

I would certainly agree this board does NOT represent Kentucky's fan base. It would be nuts to think it does. But Matt Jones does not represent Kentucky's fan base either. Matt Jones is an opportunist who is making a lot of money off Kentucky's fan base.

This board is his competitor. He likes to take on opponents. I like his stuff and am glad he's on. Broke the status quo. Listen to he and Tom weekly. His post game is on while I drive back to Lou after the game and makes the drive enjoyable

Oh really? Try driving around the back roads in the boondocks and you'll find out pretty quick what kind of shape rural KY is in. The roads alone are barely even drivable. Per capita income is higher in the city, that's a fact. Available technology per capita is much higher in the city, fact.

I don't think we are his competitor. Message boards are in a different category. His shots at message boards come totally from a think skinned reaction to be criticized by some of it's members.

Income better be higher in the city because it costs five times as much to live there. HOA fees, high property taxes, high utility bills and the list goes on. Who needs good roads when you own a raised 4 wheel drive? You don't even need roads. Like the rancher said, if we fill in the pot holes in our roads some city slicker will think it is OK to come out here and look around. As far as technology how many city folks can field strip a deer? How many can kill their own chickens and cut them up to fry. How many can even pick a mess of beans. City and country life is totally opposite and we can thank God we are country boys.

It says a lot when we rely on our own livestock and wild game to live. You made my point for me.

There's not one damn thing wrong with that. To each his/her own.
Of course not! That's just the way of live for many, including everyone from my dads side of the family for generations. Not a damn thing wrong with it, I'm just saying it indicates lower income in parts of KY.

Are you being Serious? What is income when you give most of it to the government and live in a cramped apartment or on a postage stamp lot. I take low income and freedom of owning land any day. An ability to work with your hands, grow crops and enjoy nature is not measured by income. Some people have riches and wealth, others have a satisfied mind.

LOL, hammering us.... are you sure you even know what that means. I don't listen to him much but did hear a segment the other day where he was talking about some old timers and etc... I'm pretty sure the board he was referring to was one of the tv station boards....

In no way does this board represent the BBN

I guess you go to the grocery store where meat is made right? [eyeroll]
Per Capita there is far more poverty, crime, and child abuse in Urban Areas,I live in a rural area and grew up in Southwest Virginia on the Harlan County,Ky - State Line. Sure you'll find some shacks and poverty, but nothing like the slums and projects found in every city in the USA.Hate to tell you,but here in "The Boondocks" as you call it,I have Fiber Optic when urban areas of Northern Ky don't have it yet.
The misconceptions and stereo-types about rural life never cease to crack me up,but keep on thinking city life is the greatest,I like the peace and serenity here and don't see another house when I look out the window.
I'll take farm raised beef, pork, chicken or wild game along with garden veggies over McDonalds any day.

Raising Cattle is a sign of poverty? You better check beef prices at your corner grocery city boy
Farmers and Farming is a pretty decent income ,just that the hours suck and most people aren't cut out for it,I'm 10 miles from a town 0f 2000 and 45 miles from a town of any size, but the average income for farming is better than many skilled labor jobs,or even some jobs that require degrees. We're not talking about 10 acres though.Ever see what kind of income people have from Thoroughbred Horses?

Your conception of life in the city is miscontrued. Sure there is a sector of slums in every city, but you also have some very nice suburban neighborhoods. Just as there are shacks, but also nice houses in the country. Don't know why you want to make this a rural vs. urban debate.

You did with your original post declaring every rural area in poverty

Also,..I get tired of seeing Jonathan Miller's Bolshevik political commentary on KSR.

I suppose Jones figures that periodically turning his blog over to Miller will improve his political viability. But he needs to learn that it's Trump time.

Hookin' up with the Bolsheviks isn't going to help Matt Jones.

It's a new day.

We are laughing at you Matt. The guy who wants to rush the field after a football win. Like your young again. Or the guy who can't get a girlfriend. The guy who can't talk UK sports on a UK sports talk show. The guy who went to Duke. The guy who acts like he knows things around the UK basketball program.
