Your point? This thread is about matt campbell.

You posted a head to head record against Holgorsen when it's not a fair comparison considering WVU gets better recruits than ISU does (and implying that Holgorsen is better than Campbell when he hasn't even had a chance to coach at a school with considerable talent level as WVU).

You can't deny the fact that what he did in Toledo and at ISU so far has been very impressive.

Last I checked recruiting is part of coaching.

IMO it sounds better to say Dana is 2-0 and UNDEFEATED vs the 'great' Matt Campbell.

After all his Iowa State team defeated 2 top 5 teams....... in the month of October. And we all know those rankings are done by sports writers and sports information directors (& secretaries).

Wanting to dump a coach who is 6-3 and tied for 3rd in the Big 12, and maybe tied for 2nd after Saturday, seems so very Tennessee and Florida-like. WVU can only afford to pay Dana middling pay among Big 12 coaches, and you expect Nick Saban results?

I'm not settling for "mediocrity," but other than Rich's three double-digit victory seasons, which were the exception and NOT THE RULE, Dana is tied with Don Nehlen in double-digit seasons at 2 (and Don was here 21 years!).

Clarence "Doc" Spears did it in 1922 (10-0-1), Jim Carlen in 1969 (10-1), Nehlen in 1988 (11-1) and 1993 (11-1).

And some want to dump Dana, who has done it TWICE in 6 years?

WVU had the coach who won more games in 3 straight seasons than any coach in Mountaineer history, but didn't or couldn't cough up the money for better facilities and more pay for his assistants, so they lost Rich to Michigan, which was a major mistake by the WVU AD. And bit Rich in the butt, too, I'll agree, although he's not chopped liver at Arizona, a better fit for Rich.

Be happy that WVU has a coach who has gotten my alma mater to double-digit seasons twice, and mathematically can do it again this season, which would make him tied for the most double-digit seasons in WVU history. And you want to dump him?

Get real. Enjoy the ride. Mountaineer Field is so exciting these days, much moreso than during Nehlen's average 7-victory seasons. Which is not a knock on Don. He got WVU, in sad shape when Don came here, to the point when Rich could take WVU another notch higher on the totem pole.
