what is your opinion of Mark Few? I always thought he was one step away from a coaching job at a big time university. But he seems to not be able to coach effectively when it matters.

Few doesn’t want a coaching job at a big time program. If he did he could have had almost any of them by now. He’s a very good coach. Remember, he’s at Gonzaga. It ain’t easy to build a championship team out there.

He hasn’t done it yet so I guess you’re right.

I think if few is a great coach but his conference screws his team over preparing for the big dance. I’d of loved to have him at U.K. if cal had retired .... but cals not gonna retire for a while and by then few will be many... as in years old

The conference they play in is a hindrance to their growth during the year. So, when they get to the tournament and play against athletic teams that play aggressive defense and can spread you out on offense, they ALWAYS struggle.

They had way too many turnovers and couldn't get the shots they wanted on offense. On defense they were better, but had difficulty staying on the shooters.

Few is a really good coach, just not great. His teams play hard, they are just not battle tested enough by the end of the year. That's why they ALWAYS look better before Christmas than they do in the tournament.

The trouble with Gonzaga is they play a great team once or twice a year, all the East coast teams are in a war in at least half of their games, I believ that hurts them in the tourney. Few is one of the best have a feeling he likes that part of the country and with weaker competeion he will be in the field every season.

They were the only team to beat Duke this season at full strength. Let me remind you, Duke beat us by 34 and it could have been 50.
I know who he's beaten.. But being in a ****** conference with nobody to push you,, usually equals the results he's getting .. Why I said I'd like to see him at a big name school in a power conference to see what he can really do ..

I hear he's good at matching the hatch, but not sure about his roll cast.

Not much pressure on him there, but i would think he could make a ton more money someplace else. i think he makes just under $2million.

Anyone that thinks Mark Few isn’t a very good coach at the least just doesn’t know what they are talking about IMO. He took over a program that had been to the NCAA Tournament once in their entire history prior to his arrival. He’s been to at least the Elite Eight in 3 of the last 5 years. Big programs would love to have him fill a vacancy, but he’s not budging. He’s an Oregon grad and they tried hiring him when they fired Ernie Kent, but he wasn’t going anywhere.

He's a good coach, but I have said all year that the Zags would pay for not being battled tested. They hadn't played a Top 30 team in over 3 months until FLST. This was their 2nd in well over 3 months and they lost. He is a good coach to get his teams to play at such a high level consistently at a mid-major, but I think it will always be hard when you get down to the last teams because those teams have usually been battling their asses off all season. Plus they have seen it all and have been in so many trying situations while the Zags are beating up on nobodies by 30 all year.

He's a good coach . Never know how good because he's gonna stay in that **** conference and win 26-30 games every year , and appear dominate , Would love to see him decide to challenge his own self and come east .

Few is a west coast Rick Barnes. Always in the hunt but never gets the prize. It is all he seems to want.

As this game was coming down the stretch, I was thinking "Gonzaga has very little experience in this kind of game and it may bite them." I thought Gonzaga played hard but played tight down the stretch. If they played in a conference that challenged them during the season, it would have helped them tonight.

My final evaluation of Gonzaga is that they had legit final four talent on this team but they lacked the experience of playing in big games and tight games that they needed to get there. Put them in the SEC, BIG12, BIG10, or ACC, and they may have had a few more losses but they likely win this game.

Dan Monson took Gonzaga to the Elite Eight the year before Few became head coach
I know. He took a job somewhere else, (Colorado maybe) and hasn’t been heard from since.

Few has taken freaking Gonzaga to the Tournament every year he’s been there. That’s crazy stupid stuff.

Few is one of the best in the business.
I’m not sure how old you are, but Gonzaga was a joke until he got there.

While i agree about Few...Gonzaga was in the elite 8 the year before Few arrived. Monson left for Minnesota.
