Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman converts to the Roman Catholic Church.
Is this popular?Hey, Im 0-3, but at least Im catholic!
I mean, I went to read the story just to make sure you were not pulling our leg.“Freeman, who was a Christian before his entrance into the Catholic Church”
It’s the church man. Been dividing for a millennia. I attended a Southern Baptist Convention church in Clemson for years and couldn’t be a member until I was baptized by immersion. I never did, don’t believe in “church membership” as defined by denominations But that’s just me.I mean, I went to read the story just to make sure you were not pulling our leg.
I find this astounding, especially for a publication titled "The Catholic Telegraph" with a cross in its branding and published by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati whose website home page says "We are called to radiate CHRIST."
This is just infelicitous phrasing that clearly was supposed to mean that he was already a Christian before joining a Catholic Church. I don’t care for some of the ways Catholics talk about themselves, or for some of their theology, but it’s a beautiful tradition that’s clearly within Christian orthodoxy.I mean, I went to read the story just to make sure you were not pulling our leg.

Pulling a 'Sandusky' in 2022. Bold. Bold.Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman converts to the Roman Catholic Church.
There is the universal Church and then there is the church community you’re a member of. All Christians are part of the Church, but joining a local church community that has rites and rules that form the community is biblical. Church (capital C) membership is a prerequisite for church membership, but just never being a member of a church community isn’t wise for human beings or biblical. It’s the church man. What’s so astounding? It’s just saying he was another type of Christian before becoming catholic and not like an agnostic or whateverI mean, I went to read the story just to make sure you were not pulling our leg.

If you believe Jesus is the one true God!This is just infelicitous phrasing that clearly was supposed to mean that he was already a Christian before joining a Catholic Church. Cynical is a dismissive and derogatory term for someone demanding the truth. You don’t have to negatively label yourself. As long as the check clears he will be approved….
I was raised 8 days a week in southern churches, bible school, etc…
My wife is Catholic…so our boys will be raised as well.
Im not anti religion, but organized religion definitely makes me cynical about some the things. Runs like a business and I think the Catholics have figured it out better than others.
This post is made in some jest…but….
Maybe he doesn’t understand what divorce really means.Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman converts to the Roman Catholic Church.

I was just quoting the article.Catholic is also Christian. I assume you meant Protestant.
Catholics are by definition Christian. The founder of the Church was an apostle of Christ. Every Catholic is a Christian. What’s so astounding? It’s just saying he was another type of Christian before becoming catholic and not like an agnostic or whatever
Well when you assume things you have no clue about, you make yourself look like an idiot...I've known him since he was 15...I know his father, Michael and his mother, Chong...his father is retired Air Force and met his mom when he was in Korea...i also know how arrogant Marcus is, although he puts up a nice facade...as far as his coaching abilities, Stevie Wonder could see he's over his head...he was a woke choice to replace Kelly and he's headed down the Tyrone Willingham path to somewhere else in a few years...now, tell me what close personal friends you are with him and what a great person and coach he's going to be...So I am going to assume that you have no earthly clue about Freeman's character or coaching
I guess he felt the need for confession.Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman converts to the Roman Catholic Church.
They probably meant to say already a ChristianCatholics are by definition Christian. The founder of the Church was an apostle of Christ. Every Catholic is a Christian.
To say Freeman was a Christian before he became a Catholic is like saying he was Black before he became an African American.
What do you think 'Christian orthodoxy' means? This is just infelicitous phrasing that clearly was supposed to mean that he was already a Christian before joining a Catholic Church. That word.... Christian.....may not mean what you think it does....Catholics are by definition Christian. The founder of the Church was an apostle of Christ. Every Catholic is a Christian.
