Can I make the argument Providence is a better job? I'd have to think about that a little, Georgetown has kind of followed the path of Husker football the last 20 years, could they be awakened again? I guess I don't see why not.
absolutely you can.

Cooley is a Providence guy, too. RI native.

I guess the resources are far greater at GTown (what the talking heads say, at least), but they've certainly underperformed for quite some time now aside from that miracle BE tourney title a couple years ago.

tons of players in the DMV, but those are available to Providence, as well

Surprised Georgetown can lure him away, since Providence pays Cooley a crapload of money. Good coach, but I was always surprised to see him so high on the list of HC salaries.

Yeah but he is gonna get like 6 million a year to coach at Georgetown, that is tough to pass up.

Shocked there are no posts about how it is a bad time to sell or how the taxes over there are high or how having a pool sucks...
Yeah living in large cities is crazy expensive for a lot of people, but it cracks me up when there's a 5-page thread on how Tim Miles will be lucky to squeak by in San Jose on $500K per year.

Speaking of players from that area, the DC Player of the Year from 2021 will likely be in the portal soon:

Quincy Allen, Colorado

Fred should definitely give him a look. He's rotted on the bench at Colorado because Tad Boyle thinks it's 1982 and everyone will surely wait until they are a junior to get playing time. Allen is raw but could be a nice addition for the Huskers.

Right???

What Miles makes each year puts him in the top 1% of all earned in the USA...But we have posters here that think he will have to rent a duplex 60 miles from his job and maybe get a PT job just to make ends meet.

I mean, I know that here, on this site, what Miles earns is nothing, because everyone that posts here makes crazy jack and ***** like porn star (Not me, I am broke and usually cry during and after sex). But I think Miles is gonna do just fine.

Your obsession with sex is strange. Whats your occupation?

And now Kim English (probably) to Providence since they won't be able to trick Pitino into coming back...which will open up a job no one cares about in George Mason. Kind of boring.

Sounds like UT has whiffed on about 5 new coaches and will stick with Terry.

Basically leaves The Crying Irish as the only "big" job out there

Kim English is a solid hire for Providence, though with that kind of money I thought the Friars might get a bigger name. Boyle should have made more of an effort to keep English at Colorado, but he bolted for Tennessee while Tad embraced his band of yes-men. Not surprised to see English climbing the coaching ranks.

If Notre Dame wants to keeping going on the cheap, they might hire Michael Lewis from Ball State.

Wouldn't be a splash hire, but they'll need to pay more than Bray was making to attract any established coaches.

My final 4 was Marquette, Alabama, UCLA and the dreaded whorns..

Have Bama winning it all..Been impressed at the end of the season on how texass is playing with interim coach who is likely going to be the head man..

If his wife doesn’t work 500k doesn’t go very far in San Jose. Hell.. my wife and I can’t find an affordable home in a nice area in Tampa and we do quite well. 500k isn’t what it used to be ..

That’d be weird to take a job in the same conference.
for big east hoops would be like from indiana to nebraska in b10 football. they are not the same level of expectation and resources.

Except Cooley was already the highest-paid coach in the Big East, once Jay Wright retired. That's why Providence feels blindsided.

there's more to it than money. maslow's hierarchy of needs places money really low on the pyramid. cooley is after championships.

Fans of all programs... college and pro, remind me of people who sign up for online dating services....they don't understand the law of physics still apply... Just because a 2 is on the same online dating site as a 10, doesn't mean the 10 wants to go out with the 2....
