there's more to it than money. maslow's hierarchy of needs places money really low on the pyramid. cooley is after championships.
He won a Big East title in 2022 and went to the Sweet 16, right before signing an enormous contract extension and declaring his unwavering love for all things Providence:

Cooley contract extension

Obviously he's free to bail on that commitment and coach elsewhere if he wants, but nobody should be surprised that Providence is pissed about it.

And while Cooley will no doubt upgrade the mess he's inheriting at Georgetown, I'll offer a friendly wager that he won't win the Big East or go farther than the Sweet 16 before he retires.

I don’t think Shaka or Hurley are going anywhere and they’ll attract top notch transfers and recruits. They’ll be tough to beat

And Sean Miller. The guy's a dick, but a helluva coach.

Pitino could also make some noise in the Big East.

hall of famers coaching damn near every BE school

Thad Matta is basically an afterthought at Butler after a pretty good run in the B1G

Mark Adams got fired by Texas Tech for comparing his players to slaves....while McDermott gets rewarded with a job at the most prestigious Catholic university in the country?
I’ll be honest, I never thought what Mac said was either intentional nor a big deal. Maybe being a white guy makes he feel that way, but I can see how it’s easy to slip some words unintentionally. And Creighton is a good school, but the most prestigious Catholic university?

I'm talking about Notre Dame, if the rumors are true

Wouldn't you think McDermott meant to say reservation instead of plantation? Doesn't that make way more sense in the context of what he was talking about?

That would be a huge loss for Creighton if it happens and i'd be bummed to see him go. He is pretty maxxed out here though and I could see him wanting a shot at a better opportunity like ND.

If he goes to ND then Devries better be on speed dial

Him or Porter Moser. Creighton has pretty good options if he leaves.

I don't think Creighton can afford Moser, OU could pay him whatever he wants. Though maybe they wouldn't mind if he left, his first 2 years there have not been impressive.

Keep an eye on Miller in the next week or two. Some chatter that if a few things fall into place that he will be bolting X.

Moser hates OU.

He is begging for the ND job, but ND is after Strews from PSU (first) and after that, who knows.

Moser at OU always seemed like a weird fit, he's a Chicago guy.

I have to think DeVries would be Creighton's first choice. But the new Creighton AD has no previous ties to Creighton, so he might go with an outside hire. He's an East Coast guy and with Creighton in the Big East now, he might want a coach with East Coast connections.

It's an age old secret that the best way to get more fans on your side and get them to show up and support your team is to ***** about them publicly. Works everytime.
Yeah, Altman needs to calm down and realize the NIT just isn't all that interesting. Wisconsin got less than 4,000 fans for its first-round game with Bradley. Michigan got 4,500 for Toledo. Colorado hosted the first two rounds and averaged about 3,500. Stop crying and make the Big Dance next year.

He sounded. Like a douchebag there to be honest, and unless he goes to every football game and volleyball game and whatever else that school does then he needs to shut it. Fact is he's a multimillionaire many times over whose job is to be there...Other people aren't in that same financial category and have other things to do i'm sure.

I wish we had hired Altman instead of Collier. Altman is past his prime now. You'd think Oregon would have benefitted a ton from NIL, but they've gotten worse.

I get the sense that Phil's enthusiasm for that program isn't what it used to be...... anybody in the know, know if i'm right? Seems like he's made some statements in the last couple of years that leads me to believe that

B1G is a stepping stone conference for coaches
Not sure I'd say all of the B1G is a stepping stone job but PSU certainly is. No one here in central PA really cares about PSU basketball minus the rare occasion that they make the tourney. Imagine that probably had something to do with Shrewsberry's decision. I assume his son will be following him to ND as well

What’s worse .. south bend or happy valley?
I think I get what you're referencing... lol. I will say the PSU campus is quite beautiful and State College is a nice (albeit rural) town. PSU just doesn't have much of a basketball tradition

Strews wants Purdue, that is his dream job. But he has to wait for Painter to leave, those guys are good friends. Staying at PSU would have been a huge mistake because they are going to suck hard next year. ND at least gets him back to his home state.
