What I don’t understand and despise is that we automatically say our players and coaches suck when we lose.We never acknowledge that the other teams players are on scholarship tour first year players lost to a group of talented three and four year players.How good were Berry,Pinson ,and Johnson as freshman.Jmo but Duval is a hell of a lot better than either Berry or even Lawson was as a freshman.Unfortunately I doubt that we get to see an experienced Duval.That is the reality of this period of College BB.I bet some of these screaming about the OAD,s were the same ones screaming about Paula’s getting torched by Lawson.Cannot Have it both ways

I said they were soft which to me speaks to toughness. I love everything about Duke hoops but in the past K would send a message which he did a couple of press conferences ago and weeks ago with the defensive effort. He said that they didn't play up to the standards of the program yet, the exact same 5 started once again and the same issues were present - lackluster defense, bad point guard play and a senior who is being way to passive as a leader.

I am not in the locker room so I have no idea if personalities are too fragile or what but this team is way to passive and emotionless 90% of the time which is not the Duke style.

I know what you meant. But you weren't questioning whether or not they were soft/tough, you said they were soft. That's not questioning it.

Also, we don't know what kind of messages he has sent or is trying to send. It's not his job to tell us or show us that.

Lastly, he didn't say the kids haven't played up to the standards of the program 'yet'...he said they didn't against St. John's. And coaching isn't as easy as flipping a switch. The same five have started all 24 games. At one time they were 18-2. I don't think our starting five is what is holding us back. It's multiple facets. I think K is smart enough to know that, too.

No matter what I ride or die with Duke and will never take a shot at a player or coach. We all get frustrated buy these are MY boys, I am a Dukie through and through. I love the school, I love the kids, I love everything that is Duke. The way I see it we are in this together till I take my last f***ing breath on this planet.

Have set of balls and don't make excuses. I came in to work today and faced two UNC fans right off the bat, I told them great game and the better team won tonight but I was proud of MY boys. They gave me **** on how our seasons isn't turning out how the hight expectations aren't being met, not in a D-Bag way just B-Ball talk. I told them we'll see how it plays out but I will be there for every second of every game pulling for MY Bluedevils. I don't give a **** if we are 0-24 I am rolling with Duke and rocking my gear. To hell with some of you.

In regards to attacking our players and calling them names, I choose not to do it on this message board. However, I think we have all said negative things about a family member when we were mad at them, whether in your own head or aloud. However, we wouldn't let anyone else say those same things about them. I think that is what it is like for some fans. I would be willing to bet that the fans calling the Duke players names would be pretty quick to defend them to a fan of another team.

People saying saying so-and-so sucks, or K doesn't know what he's doing, it's the same thing every year, bench this guy, K should be embarrassed, etc....it sounds ridiculous. And every one of things was said on one page of the game thread last night. How does that anything to any kind of discussion?

Read my posts the last two weeks. I've haven't been rah-rah. And I'm considered by some to lead the rah-rah crowd. This team has issues. I know that. You know that. Every single Duke poster on this board knows it. Some just handle it different. But folks who want to continue supporting this group, who want to believe and who don't take a childish stance and pout in a corner like someone stole their basketball are considered the one's living in the clouds? That doesn't make even a little sense in any walk of life.

I think we have posters that are too over the top from both sides. Up until this season, I've never been too gung ho over freshmen. Not only did I buy the hype, I started selling it too. I have learned the hard way.
I am embarrassed that I bought into the hype over our star studded freshmen class, thinking they would dominate, and I thought Grayson would be better than he has been. The part though that irritates me is to hear some of the same people that were leading the charge to then say Whoa! Whoa! we are young and going to struggle some. It's as frustrating to read those posts as it is to read the posters that only show up when we lose, call for K's head 10 minutes into the game, or want Grayson benched for Buckmire.

The extreme goes both ways, not trying to make anyone ill, but that's how I see it.

It was quoted in a UK title named something like "we had given up on our team". Didn't mean you said it and I agree that Grayson seems to have lost his bulldog fighting ways. Its all cool with me Letsgo. I know you are a Dukie.
