He wants to play baseball...Ole Piss has the best baseball program of the schools he’s listed...that’s probably where he’s going.

I've seen him listed as 100% a Rebel for quite a while now.
I guess it's payback for all of those high school recruits from Mississippi that RU attracts to New Jersey.

Maybe if we had a stadium with lights, real press box, concession stands, chair back seating , proper restrooms ( not Johnny on the Spot) and a stadium with an interactive video screen with a few bells and whistles.our conference is mediocre and the program went south some years ago. After Fred Hill left we totally sucked and that is why Malone is on his way south to Ole Miss an great BB program.

Good point. West Deptford HS has a better stadium.

Will be interesting to see how much pressure they put on him to drop baseball once he gets there. But I'm sure they made promises.

I am hoping our new coach can revitalize our men’s Baseball program . . The name of the game is pitching , defense / speed and timely hitting. If and when he can keep several more top NJ pitchers , those who normally head south , then we will see a difference . The upgrades to the Bainton Field are nice but we are still 8- 10 million $$$$ away from being on par with the top teams nationally. Maybe Zap can help here with a question on a Rutgers player, the catcher from Millburn now a junior/ senior, has he in your opinion stayed on projection to possibly get to the next levels? I think he was hitting better prior to the pandemic but seemed to lose out to another catcher. Do you remember this player?

As important as Malone would be for both the football and baseball programs there is a definite reason at this time to play at several of those high powered southern schools and primarily in baseball. Not that soon we could be a power in the B1G baseball world but at this time we lack not only the ideal weather but the facility is not complete. Nice but needs to get better.

Caldwell university has better baseball facilities, it's really embarrassing. Seriously, it looks like a high school field or a D3 school.

I can see this as a case where we’ll see him transfer home once he realizes he will be riding the pine on the baseball team.

Would rationalize Malone could possibly become a good baseball player in D1 and perhaps get drafted someday but realistically he stands a much better chance sticking to football and start a lucrative career barring injury. No matter where he goes I wish him the best since he seems like a nice young guy.

Chances are if he transferred any place it would be to another school which offers opportunity to play both sports and has superior facilities in his favorite sport baseball. I still think there are several semi wealthy former Rutgers players who could organize and get the money needed without going over 10 mil and that would be a start. Lights , concessions / restrooms, press box , interactive scoreboard and of course expanded chair back seating . Right now that is a dream.

The two arguments are that the academics are inferior and that it's far away from home.

It also has a racist past. They used to fly the Confederate flag for goodness sake and their mascot was named after the Confederate army. However, since he is a grade 1 athlete, he probably won't have any problems there.

I still wish him the best.

That was against St. Joe's and BC lost the game. I can guarantee you that wasn't a 70 mph pitch, even at the freshman level. High level baseball. This guy is a very talented baseball player.

He doesn’t care about it, he’ll be treated like a King down there if he chooses Ole Miss

As long as it's not a bait and switch and they don't pressure him to give up baseball.

It's a beautiful school. Obviously distance isn't factor for everyone, and they have a great baseball program and rising football program, which is what he apparently wants.

As to the other stuff, looking at their teams, it doesn't seem to be an issue. Time to move on.

The better he is at football and the more impact he has on the football depth chart early, will make it easier for him to play both
