Good lord this team is old and very injury prone. You’d think after injuries ruined their chances last year they’d try to minimize that risk

Good luck to Mr, Monk, I wish him well on the court and off the court as well!

Luvs the move with Westbrook that's sum athleticism at the guard spot for sure. LeBron will have a guy in Westbrook that can score off the dribble, and pick n roll for this team is a monster to guard. The lob to Davis will be thrown in the Rafters, LeBron isn't to shabby in a offensive pick n roll either. Malik is second unit scorer and might even get major minutes through regular season the Ariza move I'm not sold on yet.

Right when I thought the Lakers couldn't get older, they sign Melo.
That’s the price of having LeBron. As soon as this experiment is over they won’t have a roster. They will be paying AD and Westbrook tons of money and have no role players or bench because they can’t afford it under the tax. They got a title tho.

Think this is perfect fit for both sides. Monk is exactly what Lakers needed--an athletic, explosive scorer who can explode off the bench. Monk gets to learn from Pros and in a contending environment.

Malik Monk is one of the best scorers I've ever seen in person. He was must watch in AAU and then at UK played on what I felt was the most exciting team to watch in the Cal era due to the backcourt of he and De'Aaron Fox. If UK went on to win that Elite 8 game with UNC in OT, that barrage of 3's from him in the last 30 secs of the game would've been up there for greatest moment in UK NCAA tournament history. His game against UNC in regular season is the single most awesome display I've seen from a Cal era UK player. But the clutch games he had against UF in Rupp, UGA in Rupp, Michigan St at MSG, the guy was electric.

As for Lakers overall roster, I think this offseason is like the one 2 years ago when NBA media shredded them and they actually had a great vision for what to get for LeBron/AD and this is more suited for what they lacked and still some spots to go. Have MLE available to give out as well.

Also loved the pickup of Joel Ayayi from Gonzaga who I think is a better fit in NBA game then Kispert from Gonzaga due to his 2 end play. He'll be a Laker steal as UDFA but liked they targeted Chaundee Brown from Michigan as well who was is a good fit for way league needs defenders at 6'5/6'6 but also can shoot 3 ball pretty well.
Insightful and engaging as always.

As a Laker fan since the 1972 champs I love all the moves Pelinka has made, with the exception of the Ariza move, but hell he is at best the 10th or 11th man. Getting all those dudes for the minimum is absolutely crazy. My only regret is that Magic chose Lonzo over D. Fox a few years ago, which would have made the Lakers almost unbeatable.

The Lakers were one of the worst three point shooting teams last year. Westbrook won't help with that and will only make their half court spacing tighter. They will be ferocious on the fast breaks though. Monk could really fill a need for that team given his 3 point shooting. I don't like the Gasol/Howard tandem at center.

Happy for Monk, he can bring the three-point shooting the Lakers desperately need.
I am not, he signed for league minimum. he deserved more than that, but I get it, injuries and the off the court stuff did him no favors. He put the nail in the coffin of coming back to the Hornets when he complained about lack of playing time. He was coming on strong at the end of the year, actually shot over 40% from distance. Maybe he can keep improving as a playmaker also helping him to become a more rounded player and get that Big Mac cheese next contract. Nerlens suffered the same, put his head down, busted his ***, carved out a role, and got a 3 year / $30 million contract. Monk is still climbing, nowhere bear a finished product and is still only 23. he will become a solid player, just put in the work, stay out of the bad limelight and focus on his career, it will all take care of itself.

That would be nice, if Russ ever passes the ball.
yes, because he only lead the NBA in assist, he never passes the ball. Averaged over 10 per game for his career. Might want to brush up on your player stats before posting.

The 35 year-old Rondo would have made more sense with that roster than the ball-hogging Westbrook.
Westbrook would wash Rondo like a dirty dish. He will help the Lakers with his main role, primary ball handler when Lebron needs a breather and rebound. His shot selection is horrible, but he will not be depended upon to be a #1 or 2 option scoring on a scrub team, he will NOT take those shots with the Lakers. They (LBJ, AD, and Westbrook) had a sit down before they even signed him. I am pretty sure his role with the team was explained very clearly, he will at best be option #3, maybe 4 for scoring. Distribute and rebound that is his strengths, he is one of the best ever from the guard spot at both assist and rebounding. Dude rebounds like a PF, hate on him all you want, he can flat out ball. His scoring will mostly consist of driving it to the rim, finishing or drawing fouls, he has no fear taking inside among the big boys.

PG - Westbrook / Kendrick Nunn
2G - Ellington / Horton-Tucker / Monk
SF - LBJ / Bazemore / Ariza
PF - AD / Melo
C - Gasol / Howard

Old, but lots of flexibility with several different lineups. (AD at C / PF, Melo SF / PF, Horton-Tucker 2G / SF, LBJ SF / PF / PG, Monk 2G / SF

Ellington, Melo, Nunn, Monk, and Melo are good / above average 3 point shooters. Nunn is a very solid young guard that is getting better and better, strong playmaker and has really improved his range, no slouch from 3.

Understandable but I see it as him looking to prove himself and I truly believe he can get Duncan Robinson money if he balls out the next few years.

Plus, this gets him away from the absolute poverty franchise that is the Charlotte Hornets.

Having the oldest roster in the NBA with your best three players struggling to shoot the ball isn't a great recipe for success.

Before the Warriors no one gave the 3 point shot much thought. They were an outlier and will be for a long time.

The past winners including this years Bucks 3 point shooting is not elite... Lakers will be dangerous

Warriors changed everyone's roster. But la still is not going to be 3 primary
