Malik Monk to Lakers

Assembling the oldest team in NBA history.
Monk is the baby.
They get 10% extra for made baskets on Wednesdays.
Right when I thought the Lakers couldn't get older, they sign Melo.
Thats a pretty damn good looking roster regardless of age.
Happy for Monk, he can bring the three-point shooting the Lakers desperately need.

Somewhat screams 2003-2004 Lakers but older.

The 35 year-old Rondo would have made more sense with that roster than the ball-hogging Westbrook.

They have some room under the age Cap since Rondo left.
Think this is perfect fit for both sides. Monk is exactly what Lakers needed--an athletic, explosive scorer who can explode off the bench. Monk gets to learn from Pros and in a contending environment.
Malik Monk is one of the best scorers I've ever seen in person. He was must watch in AAU and then at UK played on what I felt was the most exciting team to watch in the Cal era due to the backcourt of he and De'Aaron Fox. If UK went on to win that Elite 8 game with UNC in OT, that barrage of 3's from him in the last 30 secs of the game would've been up there for greatest moment in UK NCAA tournament history. His game against UNC in regular season is the single most awesome display I've seen from a Cal era UK player. But the clutch games he had against UF in Rupp, UGA in Rupp, Michigan St at MSG, the guy was electric.
As for Lakers overall roster, I think this offseason is like the one 2 years ago when NBA media shredded them and they actually had a great vision for what to get for LeBron/AD and this is more suited for what they lacked and still some spots to go. Have MLE available to give out as well.
Also loved the pickup of Joel Ayayi from Gonzaga who I think is a better fit in NBA game then Kispert from Gonzaga due to his 2 end play. He'll be a Laker steal as UDFA but liked they targeted Chaundee Brown from Michigan as well who was is a good fit for way league needs defenders at 6'5/6'6 but also can shoot 3 ball pretty well.

Great spot to rehab his career. Can catch and shoot when the big three are playing, be the Westbrook when not.
I would say ball dominant not ball hog. There’s a difference.

Totally agree. Monk is a great fit on this Lakers team. And your point about the UNC game is spot on. A shame we didn’t pull that one out otherwise that game, and Malik’s NBA Jam “he’s on fire” type of performance, would be legendary.
Really enjoyed watching him at Kentucky and hope he gets a legit opportunity to show he can still scorch the nylon. The way this roster is constructed I would imagine he will get his chance.
I absolutely lost my mind during that game. I’ll never forget it. I still laugh at Cal yelling at Monk to drive on that last 3 and then saying, “Great shot kid!”
Monk shot .401 from behind the arc last season, the best percentage in his four seasons at Charlotte.
One of my favorite cats ever. Hope he balls out.
The only thing that really excites me about this team is the inevitable Russ to Monk tomahawk jam on some poor man’s noggin.
It'll be all jokes and criticism until they win, then comes the crying that it was a super team.
I didn't love the Westbrook move, but they are assembling a pretty nice roster to go around their big 3.

McLemore yes. Schroder may be coming back as of today but not for $120 million. Less likely with Nunn signing possibly.

I would have rather had Hield initially, but they came back and signed 4 guys who shot over 40% from 3 last season.
