His family is just fine financially. His dad is a judge and mother is a teacher.

Watched mcclung for a couple years at Georgetown and now 5-6 games at TTU. He’s a solid player but way too much of an inconsistent shooter and plays too aggressive on offense at times. I don’t particularly like his game because he shoots a lot and if he’s not making shots, his team is in trouble.

Yeah when he was in high school and somewhere here posted about him they got bombarded with idiots saying he couldn’t play here. He might have been the best player on our team this year.

Kid is an amazing athlete but sort of raw and with poor decision making. Exactly the type of player UK needed to hang around an extra year or two. Iirc played at gate city va or somewhere very close to ky.

Get his head right, and he will be a superstar.

Sounds like Boston.
I’m not advocating for Boston necessarily. But I think when Boston figures it out he is light years better than McClung. Of course, we will probably never see that at UK. If we had McClung and he shot 20-25 times a game as a 6’2” PG who can’t pass, we would crucify him if we weren’t winning.

You’re right about his athleticism, though you don’t see it on display that much because most of his game is with the ball in his hands and shooting jumpers. Perhaps with the right coaching (definitely not Ewing) he would’ve built his game differently. I agree he would have been a very solid 4 year player at UK, but probably not a superstar. He is arguably a star right now as the featured player on Texas Tech because he is allowed to control the basketball.

He’d never get off the bench here. Took losing a bunch of games and every radio show, newspaper, and fan in the state complaining about Allen not getting minutes to get him off the bench.

It appears your talking about some of our players at the present time.

We’re playing a 6-2 PG now that can’t pass or shoot or play defense.

kid may not be the best athlete, but he sure isn't the worst
as athletic as Askew or Mintz & is a better shooter
He also makes nice passes
Maybe Texas Tech has told him to shoot if open

He probably has a better shooting % than the 5* at UK

Amazing how some will downplay this kid but still justify the minutes Cal gives Boston.

Not advocating for Boston and then proceeds to do so. I don't cae what Boston does when he leaves UK. My goodness, some of you have been completely hyponotized by Cal.
Let us all know when Boston goes for 30 against the #11 ranked team in the country on the road.

All these guys who don’t won’t the leading scorer off the #10 team in the nation. lol. Shooting 44%, 35%, & 81%. Better than all our guards except Allen’s 3%.

I don’t see myself justifying Boston’s minutes. He is obviously a much higher ceiling player. I’ve watched McClung a lot. I doubt you have. He isn’t special. In fact, I’ve covered my last 2 bets betting against TTU primarily because I think they are flawed with him at the point.

Cal doesn't recruit 6"1" 3 star white kids from southwestern VA and never will.

Case closed.

True. And if you changed the word “white” to “black” in your statement, Cal or any other coach would be called a racist and fired.

Boston “figuring it out” while not at UK is meaningless. Who cares? Who is playing better now?

Your weird need to intimately defend Boston at all costs is pretty apparent.

So it sounds like he’d be a better fit right now. You agree.

Lmao, this thread is the only time in history I’ve ever even commented on Boston. You’re ridiculous. He’s played 14 games as a freshman. This thread is about McClung, not Boston. You doomsday, haters of everything Cal, are the ones bringing up Boston. Obsessed much? Grow up.

Then he is not Cal's type of player. He would probably want to stay in school and graduate.

And you are not the type fans Kentucky needs. Your hate for Cal is more obvious every post. You would prefer UK fail so Cal would get fired. I mean obsessed.

As a mind reader, YOU SUCK! I have never pulled against UK, and I never will. I don't want Cal to quit, if he can win. If he has any more years like this, then I want him gone. I guarantee I'm not the only one. Anyone with any sense can see he is not putting UK first, but the NBA.
I am not for any coach that isn't getting the job done. UK comes before any coach for me, but evidently not for you. It's obvious you place Cal above UK, I DON'T. No FF in the last 5 years, and possibly the second NIT in the last 9 years. Maybe that's fine with you and other Cal Suckers, but for real UK fans, not coach fans, that is unacceptable. We know he can recruit, but his coaching sucks. Even BCG could coach better then him. No coach in the history of basketball, had the Top recruiting class in every year for 12 years. What do we have to show for it. One NC while 3 other schools have 2 each. Losers will point out we have been to X Final Fours. I will point out, we have not been to one in 5 years, but I bet you think we are going to one this year. It appears when a fan puts the coach above UK, that YOU are not the type of fan Kentucky needs. Evidently you really like our record this year. You must be a Louisville TROLL!
