How are we ranked 10th but a 4 seed? That must be some of that new math they’re teaching kids.

Seems like ranks:

1-4 = 1 seeds
5-8 = 2 seeds
9-12 = 3 seeds
13-16 = 4 seeds

I know the seeding isn’t that simple but I never really understood why.

So you really think NCAA seeding goes by the AP poll? Seriously? You've been watching basketball you entire life and you think the selections committee AP poll 1-4 teams a 1 seed, 5-8 a 2 seed, 9-12 a 3 seed, 13-16 a 4 seed, and so forth?

Are you capable of talking to anyone without talking down to them?
Are you? Yall spout moronic nonsense then start crying when called out on it. Then you trash anyone who gives an honest critique of the team because you cant control your emotions.

Yes that’s exactly what I said. I definitely didn’t say anything in the last sentence about knowing that’s not how it works.

And who says I’ve been watching basketball my whole life? Maybe I just started today. I like how the players get more points if they shoot it from further away from the basket thingy.

We aren't a 4 seed any more despite what Joe wants to say. If the tourney started today I am very confident we'd be the the 11 or 12 seed overall. But 5 games to go plus SECT and we win out we are utter locks for 2 seed . I don't think anything can happen that can get us into 1 seed territory though.

The SEC Champion is going to be a 3 or 4 Seed? Possibly be ranked 5-6 in the AP Polls at the end of the season. Something doesn’t add up.

Seton Hall ranked 16th 19-7 record and they are a 3 Seed. Lundari is on crack and playing favorites.

Well since you didn't know and didnt take the time to educate yourself, here ya go.

http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/mens-basketball-selections-101-selections

Just a FYI, the AP and Coaches polls are meaningless to the selection committee, they don't use them now and haven't as far as I can remember.

I rewatched what he said.... this was earlier so I don’t remember it exactly. I could have sworn he said the computer rankings have us as a 4/5 but he thought the eye test put us higher than that. Maybe I am wrong. I’ll try to find that clip
You are correct sir.

You are being dishonest about your honest critique of the game. You did try to talk down to a guy that makes sense for most of us. You whine too much.

If a guy thinking the selection committee uses the AP or coaches poll in seeding makes sense to you, you're absolutely clueless. That's just the way it is. Knowledgeable college basketball fans know that's nonsense. I wish I could sugarcoat it to make you feel better but I can't.

I am assuming in your world the selection committee asks you about seeding.
In the past the polls seemed to be a (somewhat) accurate indicator of where the seedings would fall. If you deny that I too will sugarcoat it, you are not too bright. On selection Sunday, check the seed ranking and the polls, aside from Net, and I am suggesting you will see a close relationship. If not, talk down to me. That's your style.

Why would the selection committee ask me about seeding? I posted the criteria they use and if you had taken the time to educate yourself you would know that top 25 polls as well as asking my opinion aren't used. Its gonna break your heart to learn that top 25 teams Utah State and SMU have missed the NCAA tournament in the past. The top 25 polls may be close to the seeding because both contain the top teams but thats not the argument, the argument is that the selection committee does not use them at all. They are meaningless when it comes to seeding, the polls are not on team sheets, no matter how you want to spin it, claiming that they matter just shows your ignorance.

You are somewhat of an outlier on this board. Most people can have a discussion and remain friends. Watching your posts it is obvious you are just a simple minded dip **** that doesn't care about having a discussion. So my advice to you, outlier, is to travel even farther out. Get out there where the Jerry Palms of the world graze. It would be better for all. Please call me on Selection Sunday and explain what happened. Talk slow while you explain.

I just read the epistle that you decided to put out to the unwashed. It states plainly that the ESPN strength of record, BPI ranking, KPI, KenPom and Sagarin would all be considered n the final placement of teams. All that arguing and you didn't read your own info. Geez man.

Y’all better get ready for it. Don’t know why so many can’t see it.

The east coast bias is very real, and most UK fans who’ve been doing this long enough know it. The SEC is a better league than the ACC this year. The ACC is absolute trash from 5 out. Duke is mediocre, UNC is horrid, an overrated Florida State team is seen as one of the best. That’s ****.

And it won’t matter come selection Sunday. As the SEC, a much deeper league, beats up on each other they’ll destroy us in the polls trying to sway opinion.

and it’ll work. It always does.

Isnt Sagarin a part of the selection recipe? In my ignorance I happened to notice that the sagarin ranking was a part of the final decision. Sagarin lists teams from1 thru whatever. Seems like a poll to me. What say you fuckedflopsandsand? Time for you to apologize to jmw23712 don't you think.

It’s called ratings! Not basketball ratings. TV ratings.

The problem is the SEc **** the bed bigly in the non conference schedule. Florida screws everyone but stinking it up all season until the very end. Auburn played no one ooc and aside from a random ole miss win the SeC didn’t do much. Well we did but the rest are why the conference has the bias against it

The bias is driven mainly because SEC is football king and basketball has always been the northeast and east coast sport. A lot of these talking heads are east coast guys. They hate the SEC and they hate Kentucky.

Every conference has teams losing games they shouldn’t. We only highlight the SEC.

There’s a reason why espn is always uplifting the ACC before tournament selection time. They’re not different than news media, they attempt to sway opinions.

This year the bias is with the big east and the big 10. You’re right though the SEC gets zero respect despite the 6 titles in 25 years

I believe that the 1 seeds are pretty much a given with Kansas, Baylor, San Diego State, and Gonzaga. The 2 seed now that Duke and UL losing we could still get a 2 seed if we finish strong and go either 5-0 or 4-1 and do well in SEC Tourney. It is probably a 3 seed hoping we can make it to a 2 Seed with a Strong Finish in regular season and in the SEC Tourney in Nashville.

I agree that wouldn’t add up. I remember in recent years when we were playing in the SEC championship and won it didnt help our seeding because the NCAA said the game is played too late to consider, however if we lose they sure do use it then, to drop us a seed or two. I still say the league should move the games up a day and play the final on Saturday.

Illinois with a healthy Ayo Dosunmu is a legit top
25 team. PSU lost to them at the wire. Yes it was at home but it’s not a ‘bad loss’. Auburn...they had a bad loss l.
Auburn had two bad losses. @ missouri and @ UGA.
They didn't have Okoro in either game, so I'm sure that will be considered.
