All said the defense played good enough to win. The offense stinks . Never heard our radio announcers praise a unit like that . Read between the lines and they say Drew must go

That's BS. If true the score would be 0-0. Defense is just as bad as the offense.
Defense did what they could do. It's like a pitcher who gets no run support. You can't pitch shutouts every single time you go out on the mound, it's just unrealistic.
As of now PSU has run about 80 plays to RUs 50. That's not the defense's fault. Offense cant stay on field. Defense was ok.
They are always on the field cause of all the 3 and outs.
Defense did enough to win a game. The time of possession in this game is obviously lopsided.
anyone with 2 eyes knows the defense was playing their hearts out. When our offense can't even muster 100 total yards and our opponent starting field position is at the 45 every time -- what do you expect?
PSU rushed for 339 yards behind a banged up and inexperienced OL tonite. They averaged 7 yards per carry.
I agree. The point is that the radio staff basically called for mehringer's job . You never see that . Coming from carlin that says a lot
they gave up 339 rushing yards to a team with no-oline the d is much better than the offense but no they weren't good.
All units on this team are not very good, with the offense being the worst, followed closely by our kicking game.
d was serviceable same for many other games this season. The O a joke.

when the entire stadium is gone at the start of the 4th quarter, what do you want from the D? That game was over at 3 nothing.. The D gave the O every chance to put RU in the game and they did nothing but hurt.
Defense played fairly well for three quarters (of which they were on the field 80% of the time, and were gassed in the fourth.

First and 10 on the PSU 20 or so yard line and we call an end around type play that loses 10 yards, then 2 plays for zip and a missed FG from 35 yards out.
Could've had a lead, wiped the zero off the board immediately, but no, the BS play calling from DM screwed the momentum, and the rest was ALL down hill.......

We gave PSU the ball on the 10 after a punt was blocked. Our punter had 2 punts of 28 and 19 yards. We were horrible in all phases of the game. What are our coaches doing at our practices? We have been practicing since August and we look pathetic in every phase of the team. We look totally clueless on the field.
D gave up 39 points because the offense can't sustain any drives and stay on the field
Their defense was in our backfield immediately. Don't you think a screen or two would've slowed that down? And in doing so, given our RBs a chance to hit the holes?
In the post game, David Milewski was very critical (in as nice a way he could) of the predictability of the play calling.
No. they're secondary was playing man press all game. The receiver would've been swallowed up right away. They even tried a screen a few times, didn't work. Their front seven threw OL. Our RBs are talented but asking them to break a few tackles before they reach the line of scrimmage is too much. Game was lost in the trenches.
PSU's offensive line consisted of three freshmen, one soph and one senior. Seems they're able to recruit better players, or coach them up or install a better scheme than RU's staff. In all probability PSU is superior in all three aspects.
Let's not get carried away praising the Rutgers defense. The most I would say is that they do not stink as badly as the offense.

Pen St, and just about every B1G program, has better players at EVERY position than RU right now.
But, that will change if the RU and NJ community actually give Coach Ash some time to re-build/re-tool. He will get it done, but don't expect a quick fix miracle.

#Rutgers lost 39-0 at home to Penn State. They've been beaten by Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St. & Penn State by a combined score of 224-0.
Mehringer needs to return to JMU .
there is NO progress shown by any part of offense except Harris..who may return full time only for baseball.

I'm not thrilled with Drew, but does he actually block on the field?
Can't do much on offense when the O-Line does give the QB any time nor give the RB's much room.
Even Barkley would not be able to be a productive runner with the RU OL.

The 1990s Dallas Cowboy defense couldn't play 60 entire football minutes and not give up a point against the B1G.

The defense gave up 39 points which isn't great.There has been no pass rush all season.The defensive line continually gets manhandled at the line of scrimmage.The linebackers are poor tacklers.The defensive backs aren't in position to make interceptions.The defense is better than the offense and special teams which isn't saying very much.
Hamilton, Odrick, Joseph played hard until the very end of the game. That's men.
We have a punt block and PSU starts on our own 10. Ummmm was not going to be 0-0. Our defense played fine right up until the punt block. Failure on the O and special teams makes our defense look worse
Disagree on no pash rush all year. We were fine until Q Lambert went down with the injury. Now JPO and Hamilton are getting doubl teamed.
