LSU thoughts and predictions

For starters I feel very good about the state of the program and the prospects for this year. However, I do not feel good about Kentucky's prospects in this game.
I think LSU is underrated and likely are about as good as Alabama.

Offensively and defensively LSU is one of the better teams in the country on 3rd down and Kentucky has been below average on 3rd down on both offense and defense.
LSU is one of the better team in the country on defense and nobody has been able to run the ball against them.
LSU averages 500 yards per game on offense.

On paper LSU is a much more talented team and is better than UK on both sides of the ball. LSU will score several touchdowns and Kentucky will have to win the turnover battle to be able to hang with them. UK will also have to be able to score several tds to hang with them and I can't see that happening unless we can run the ball against them, something nobody else has been able to do. To do that Kentucky will probably have to go multiple tight ends and play four down offense with a lot of running from Minchey and probably have a few surprises for them.

Does UK have a chance? The bettors think so as the line has been bet down 2 points. I hope if it goes like I think it will and Kentucky gets thumped something like 42-13 our fans don't get down on the team because LSU isn't just the best team left on our schedule but they're the best team left on our schedule by a wide margin. If Kentucky pulls the upset they're a playoff contender but if we lose we're still in the running for a good bowl game as all the rest of our games are winnable. I don't think we win this one but this team has already surprised me a couple times. Go Cats!

If I'm reading it right the opening line was 9.5 and has moved up to 10.5. The over under has also gone up 4 to 4.5 points. I kinda agree with you on the game but we seem to always play Kiffin teams close. I just hope we can get out of the game with minimal injuries and get focused on the rest of the season. Hope I'm wrong and we whip some ***! Go Cats

The first line I saw was 10.5 and ESPN shows 8.5 at this time.

I don't see a UK win, but there is a part of me that envisions a win and what the aftermath would look like. UK and Stein would be the talk of college football. This would accelerate everything, especially recruitng. It would be like going from a turboprop to a jet engine. If Ole Miss can do it, UK can do it. Ole Miss got destroyed by UF then UF got destroyed by Mizoo. That gives me some hope.

I don't think LSU is as good as bama. I do think this is just a bad matchup because we haven't stopped qb run nor maintained contain at all this year. If we don't really focus in, its going to be leavitt just scrambling for first downs over and over.

I did think Lane made some interesting comments in his pc where he said our current d was alot like the d of the last few years. If so, bodes well because he could never really get his pass game going against us. That's even more why the qb contain will dictate this game.

I think the score will be within one td either way but Lane just has a very lucky streak vs us. So I think we lose by 7 or less.

If Kentucky wins this game, Lane Kiffin and his failures will be the talk of college football.

If what Stein hinted at in the article on KSR/On3 is correct in that we will be very thin due to some injuries after the S. Carolina game then I have to pick LSU. I just hope we can keep it close if we have several players out.

LSU has a big and fast defensive line which will hinder our running game, mix in out every game slow start and mounting injuries and I don’t feel good about this game. We won’t be able to start playing in the 3rd quarter of this one. LSU 35-17

I picked lsu to win 31-24 in Old Reds contest but I just have a good feeling about this game.

First Keeneland game at 7:00 and it’s a another sellout with a lot of libations flowing - I’ve seen some good things happen on that field in those conditions so my glass is half full - guess I need to keep on drinking!

With all the defensive injuries especially to linebackers we need to play a lot of zone and force Leavitt to make reads. He has struggled with it so far this year. Lane gets impatient also with that bend don’t break defense like Brad white used to use on him. LSU run game is a must to slow down.

Offensively we can put points up on them through the air. Have to keep running the ball but we will need Minchey to keep up the steady passing game. They bring pressure a lot so need to hit some big plays off of it. Baxter has been huge in blitz pickup so that has to continue.

Will be a tough game but we definitely can win. This team doesn’t quit. Leavitt takes alot of chances and we need to capitalize on them. We missed a few should be ints against sellers. Can’t have that this week.

Beating LSU would keep us firmly at 26 I believe as polsters would call LSU a worse than expected team.

That said, Cats will get it done.

I love where the team is under Stein, but let’s face it we’ve beaten a disappointing TamU team and a reeling South Carolina team. While I don’t think we get blown out, I think we lose by 7-10points..

I really worry about our run defense against a physical team like LSU. They are going to pound the rock all night long. On the other side, I’ve been less than impressed with Leavitt. His passing numbers are not good for a Kiffin QB.

It’ll be close but our D eventually runs out of gas. 37-31 Tigers.

Lsu not as good as bama, and I actually think our qb is better. With that said, i dont know if our D can hold amd we eventually get worn down

Lane in the last is his inability to stick with the run game. Even at bama saban had to constantly chew on him to het him to run the ball. Hopefully he hasnt matured because I agree we dont want attrition to be worse than it already is.

That said, i think we are down a few guys in the secondary too. Iirc we are down two nickles.

Just make leavitt beat us with his arm. He hasn't seen the field well all season. We just cannot let him scramble all day or we will lose by a few scores.

If we can move the ball we have a shot. Otherwise, our defense will get gassed and collapse in the 2nd half.

I’ve had LSU beating us all season and then us going to Oklahoma and getting another big road win but I’d be glad to be wrong about this week.
