Ouch! Didn't expect that type of response... I'll admit that Lou Holtz had a slight preference for Notre Dame, but if you put that aside, you HAVE to admit that he was a great analyst.

I've personally met Coach Holtz on a number of occasions. He is a good guy, was/is a great public speaker, full of positive energy and a lot of people have the wrong impression of him based on his press conferences and TV personality.

Is that the same Lou Holtz that caused EVERY school he coached to be on probation? And bailed on the Jets partway through a season?

I have to second this. Although he comes across as a ND shill on TV, he's a true ambassador of the game and stand up guy.

Doesn't really matter to me since I don't watch ESPN any more, but I think people are being a bit harsh. Yeah, he's a ND homer, but he seems like a good natured guy who's mildly entertaining. No real harm in that.
