Looking Like Its Rhule

Unless they're all wrong, it looks like the drama is coming to an end with Rhule. As I said at the beginning of the search I'm not doing cartwheels over any new coach. I support him and will certainly give him a chance to prove his worth. But I've now become a "show me the wins on the field" fan before I go overboard. Been burned too many times before.

The next mystery will be whether he retains any of the existing staff like Mickey.

I was admittedly pretty cold on Rhule at first but have warmed up a bit. Will hopefully be a good hire.

All over Twitter now. Given the silence so far, TA must have sent something out to sources.

Rhule has experience as both a defensive line and offensive line coach. This makes me smile
Like that especially given the crummy weather in the Big 10 this time of year. Teams like OSU and Michigan usually win the battles in the trenches and it shows on the scoreboard.

Yep, I’ll just be happy and hopeful. No guarantees… I thought the last 4 coaches would work out somehow… and none really did.
I’ll just sit back and root for the team and hope the ceiling on Rhule is actually high.

He’s 47-43 as a college head coach and failed in the NFL. Don’t tell me he’s a slam dunk hire. Be prepared for at least 2 not so good years. It took him 3 years at both Temple and Baylor
He failed in the NFL? **** it. Don't want him. No college coach worth a **** has ever failed in the NFL.

You do know the situation he took over at Baylor right?
So was it worse than Nebraska? Baylor under Briles there were the scandals, BUT , they were still winning. Even under Grobe they were 7-6 and won the Cactus Bowl. Matt takes the team and wins one game.

Rhule should scare the hell out of every program in the BIG except Ohio St. Give Nebraska a coach that will fix both lines and its on.

He's a slam dunk hire. Baylor basically got the equivalent of the death penalty. They had 45 scholarship players when he got there. You're allowed 85. He went to a Sugar Bowl 3 years later. He's going to be very successful here. The fact people aren't excited about this hire just proves some people love to be miserable. New day in Husker nation! Go Big Red!

Maybe. But I’ll wait and see. We’re fn cursed right now. Maybe he can bring Frank in and ask for a release from 20 years of bad juju.

Anyone that cites nfl record when discussing college coaches is just not paying attention. It’s not the same job. Not even close. Pete carrol is the only recent successful crossover I can think of and the best college coaches of the last 30 years have failed in the nfl. Stop using it as criteria for potential hires.

Matt Rhule is a slam dunk for the program. Is he guaranteed to succeed? Nope. Frost was a slam dunk as well. But there are no better prospects. Rhule appears to be grown up, qualified football coach that has turned around dumpster fires previously. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do in Lincoln with unlimited resources. Something he’s never had in college before. God I hope this is true.

I love these reaction where everyone is focusing on failed at the NFL and do not mention a 47-43 COLLEGE record.

Here's a college stat:

Nick Saban's combined record in his first 2 years at MSU, LSU and Alabama was 44-28-1. Not exactly hall of fame worthy.

It looks like this might be true and Rhule may be the one. However I will actually believe it when it’s a done signed and announced deal.

Now where are all those geniuses that have been telling us they have “inside information” and we could bet the farm it would be someone else?
