Here is an interesting take on the logo change. I can't believe they would change the logo without input from us all. I know I won't be buying any gear with the new logo shown in the link.

The reason I use the logo I do is because that's the logo we had when I graduated (2003; the Class of 2003 part is cut off though) and frankly I think the current blue UK logo is just too generic. :( They really should go back to the classic roaring Wildcat logo of the 90s/early 00s, at least as a secondary.

IMO the new logo is fine. It's not very original and looks similar to many other logos, but the image in itself looks fine to me. Not my favorite, but could be a lot worse.

I don't love the new logo. Probably because I think it is a worse version than what we already had. And that it looks EXACTLY like the University of Houston.

We are one of the few all-time great programs that is iconic and doesn't need to change anything. I know people were mad when they went away from the Wildcat in the logo, so maybe this is the same thing.

Why would they do that? That would be a strange design for them, don't you think?

What do you mean? The 90s/early 00s logo is one of their most iconic I think. Anyone here have an exact timeline for their earlier logos (I also like the one with the roaring Wildcat head with the outline of Kentucky in the background)?

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I thought this was about the "new" logo UK just came out with! But that new CBS Sports logo also is too generic...how much did they pay the logo designer for that one, $5? :p

I liked the one with the supposedly phallic shaped tongue. That got changed. I had a UK coffee cup with that one, almost exactly like the one you favor, and it helped cause a woman who became the love of my life to walk up to me, and introduce herself. I took it from there. I'd been dying to talk to her. So yea, that version is kind of special to me.

I have to chuckle though when people say they'll never buy anything with the new one on it. UK wins an NCAA title and I bet they do.

The old logo looks mischievous, like an eye watching you.

The new logo looks like acceptance. Like the eyes have the 50 yard stare/glaze.

Quite frightening.
