Being ready for a coaching change and giving up on this season are not mutually exclusive. I will still think they'll win every game and I'll watch every one as I always have.Well, like my original post suggests... Did we think we had title hopes after being 8-3 two seasons ago? The main point of my post in the first place is that it's a long season. Win against OSU and Louisville and you'll be back on board? Now if we lose both, I'm inclined to lean your way. It's early. Long way to go.
To answer your question, would I have preferred better results? Of course! But the fact that we're in the mix as a contender more years than not, yes, I'm good with that. The title game in 17 was unfortunately played in the Elite Eight that year, with the two best teams remaining going head to head. Gotta enjoy the journey, even if there's some ugly bumps along the way.
See, I'm an optimist too, but I'm also a realist. I was you two years ago and defended Cal to anyone who would listen. However, I'm also the kind of person who will keep an open mind and can change my stance in the face of new data. He's not the same coach he was the first 6 years. I still like the guy and he should be remembered fondly for the title he gave us, but it's time for a change IMO.
Now, if he proves the doubters wrong and wins a title this year or next, then I will take that as a new data point and adjust my opinion accordingly. I just don't see that happening based on the most recent data I've seen.
