Beautiful thing happened this morning on I-55 south Ridgeland/Jackson. Vehicle traveling below speed limit in left lane, holding up traffic so many were having to pass on the right. State Trooper slides up behind this vehicle and follows for about 1/2 mile. Hit his lights. The vehicle pulls to the right lane. And as soon as the Trooper gets around him, this ******* falls back into the left lane again doing the SAME THING and for no reason - there are no approaching exits on the left side. Apparently the trooper saw it in his mirror and after observing for about a mile, hits his brakes, swerves into the right lane and immediately fell back in behind the left lane driver and this time, he pulled him over. A glorious site.

Awesome. In Alabama you can now get ticketed for being a left lane loser. Though I haven’t seen anyone pulled for it yet.

You can in MS too. I think it would just have to be egregious (like the OP) to get a ticket

Every now and then I think I see a sensible post by DAWG61, then realize it was DAWGS1. Anybody else have that issue?

CDC released a statement this afternoon saying that you have a higher chance of contracting COVID if you stay in the left lane.

Hope the idiot gets the max fine for being an asshat. But we all know he/she/it will be right back into the left lane as soon as possible.

Besides insufficient roadways, this is the primary reason we have such horrible traffic in a metropolitan area with low population.

I’ll tell you one that I hate is the promotion of the zipper merge technique. I get it if everyone is aware and on the same page, but half of people don’t even know about the left lane or are on cell phones so how in the hell do you think people are going to pull of that dance? As soon as you see a lane is closed get over in a manner that doesn’t cause someone to hit their brakes. My answer to zipper proponents is when truckers block both lanes to prevent last second mergers, the flow picks up.

So were you driving slower than him, the trooper or totally fabricating this story? 78 in a 70 never gets you pulled over just don't camp in the LL.

Is it more unusual for a person to be going slower than a trooper or randomly make up stories to tell on SPS?

You misunderstood. He's either driving slower than the slow driver, he is the state trooper or totally lying to spark up a tired old thread. My vote is 3 cause this is the new Facebook.

The Germans have it figured out. They have roads built for speed and laws that ensure that motorist adhere to a strict system that works. Tailgating is a no-no and you absolutely cannot pass on the right. I visited there about 20 years ago, and that was the one thing all the locals told us-- DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT! On a six lane highway, the far right lane was for 18 wheelers and other commercial vehicles. The middle lane was for normal to fast driving. And the far left lane was for passing the middle lane or extreme speed. Seems to work.

So the trooper was staying in the left lane when he shouldn't have been?

Haven't you been advocating that it's your right to camp in the left lane?

Wait, dammit I can't believe...well ****....I'm not necessarily agreeing with you but I do need clarification. And if you're right and I've got to officially agree with you, I'm injecting myself with Covid 19.

Sorry TNT but I need clarification.

Driving in the left lane unless u are passing someone or hauling a$$ is against the law. Plan and simple! They cause wrecks!
Makes me mad when slow pokes are in left lane! I brighten and dim my lights at them (even in day time) and make them MOVE OVER.

100% true story: Last week i was traveling north on I-55 between Countyline Road and Natchez Trace exits and there was an out of county deputy car in left lane going 55-56 MPH. This fellow was enjoying his stroll in the left lane. It was about 4:30pm. I started brightening and dimming my lights at him. He moved over quickly and waved at me as I went by in an “apologizing” type way...LOL..!!!

Nope not camp. I have more right to the left lane while actively passing at 78 in a 70 than the ******* up my car's *** wanting to do 90. I was there first, I am passing first.

I'll give you a pass UNLESS the person you are passing is going 77.9999 and it will be miles before you get around. THEN, either hit your gas for a few seconds to courteously get around or get right and then back over left to pass at your leisure. If you are in the left lane and nobody is in front of you, but somebody is behind you, get right.

And even this is a change in your previous stance on the issue. You have said on here or elitedawgs or both, that if you are going 78 and in the left lane you weren't moving. I'm not about to go look for it. But you said it. Among other really dumb stuff.
