Not sure I’d…1) move north to East Lansing or surrounding area. 2) Put my future in the hands PF and MSU after they’ve gotten rid of multiple coaches in short time periods. 3) be associated with anything MSU, total scumbag program.

I recall reading at the time of the Wallace promotion that either Levar or his wife felt unhappy about him getting passed over. It does seem the right time for him to take an opportunity elsewhere.

Have two reactions to this move. Good post above in the thread that Fitzgerald and Michigan State seems dicey. It does make me feel better about doing a total reset post Kirk which I think the program needs.

This one hurts but it was a matter of time. He had no room to grow here as soon as Wallace got the Assistant Head Coach title. Hope he comes back in the future.

Awesome. Grab some experience with another program and different coaches. If he proves himself and moves up the ranks he'd be a great candidate here someday.

He will have some crazy money to work with after that ultra wealthy couple just dropped money in their laps up there

I thought he would be a great head hawk. But I want NOTHING to do with anyone still in the program, Hawks need a fresh start.

So in that aspect, I actually like this. Get out of Iowa City, different exposure and maybe opens the door to return one day as the head guy.

Coach Woods deserves our respect and appreciation.

Played in high school in Iowa, played at Iowa, played in the NFL, coached at the UI for years and did a damn good job.

He will do a good job at MSU as well. Fitz will be there four or five years, maybe much longer. LeVar will have more opportunities in the future because he's a very good coach.

We will miss him a lot but it's a good move for him professionally.

This one kinda hurts. There were two things that Iowa could count on as being elite nationally over the last 8 years and they were Phil's defense and Levar's special teams. I wish him all the best, but he's going to be really difficult to replace.
Phil's current 4-2-5 defense, the one that's been top 10 in every statistical category for the last 7 years or so, was Seth's idea/creation.

I heard he's leaving because OP (and others) have failed to spell his name correctly for far too long. Patty Fitz brought that up to him and it was like a switch flipped.

Just like eyes always says, the fanbase, specifically on this message board, truly affects the program.

An extremely tough loss to the program. Levar's coaching in special teams has been one of the pillars of the program along side Phil's defense. It hurts even more to see him go to another B1G school. But to me, it seems like this was his chance to finally get experience to work towards being a head coach.

Really sad to see a man of Levar's caliber leave. I feel for Kirk as well, because he takes stuff like this especially hard. It will be very difficult to replace someone like him.

Coach Woods will be greatly missed. Anyone who has had a son go through camps/visits to Iowa know what he means to the program.

This is a tough loss.

They must be paying him well. He was making $775K at Iowa. Not to mention, cost of living in Michgan is pricey. Title may be more important to him.
