Nothing will happen with this for months. My suspicion is that this nothing more than a trial balloon leak.
There's worse and I wouldn't be shocked if he would accept if offered. BUT he sure wouldn't be my first choice
I think the tipoff would have been Trev concluding with "it's been a long night and a tough day.
I can't wait to get home and have some of my favorite Campbell soup and hit the rack."
Or -
"I can't wait to get back to my suburban home and have an Oscar Meyer hotdog before hitting the rack."
I don't get it. ISU won because Iowa couldn't score in locked room full of hookers. To me this isn't the necessary homerun hire that can completely reverse the fortunes of the program. Everyone is an upgrade over Frost, but we need a homerun hire and that doesn't feel like it's the one.
Trev most likely will take his time as the last two coaches were turds. He most likely has his dream coach list, but it will be interesting to see what coaches reach out to show their interest. Campbell would be a step up from Frost, but is he the best coach that will be available?

BTW, might want to check Lars track record on Nebraska related issues, he’s usually accurate. This is him reporting it, not us wishing for it.
I don’t t see that at all. I think Campbell would have us competing for the division very quickly, but I’m not sure he has that championship upside in him.
Trev should approach Urban to discuss the level of interest he has in our program, before moving on to Cambell or anyone else. Having UM available as a possible coach in 2023, is like having TO available to teams looking for a coach in 1978.
Cyclone fandom has a far better rep here than Squawk fans. Don’t ruin it for them.

Uh huh….with B10 programs 2 hours away in 3 different directions, there was no way ISU was getting a B10 invite.

On one hand I agree with you about him having a ceiling. He's beginning to get a Mike Riley feel to him as a candidate (onfield results wise, not as a person).
On the other hand iowa state really does not have good facilities or donors. Like I've been up there recently since they completed their new facility and they still simply cannot compete for big time recruits with what they have. They have a small janky indoor, one outdoor field and a new $90m football facility that literally looks like Wall-E. Jack Trice looks cool in pictures but it's really not all that great when you're actually inside it and compare it to other big time conference football stadiums around the country. It would be interesting to see how he did at a place like this... which is why I feel ominous because we made the same arguments about mike riley.
Having said that he's a little more intense & nose to the grindstone than Mike and likely wouldn't (or hopefully wouldnt) be bird dogged like Riley was, which keeps me on the fence about whether or not as a fan I'd want him here. Of course all this doesn't matter if he's not interested in us or we're not interested in him the first place
