Not my first pick but I think he’d do very well here. He’s had some damn good seasons overachieving at a dumpster fire and going toe to toe with Texas and Oklahoma. His teams come off well-coached and he may just be running out of steam at a school that is doing him no favors.
I could be wrong, but I think Nebraska isn’t as attractive as the fans think they are and managing expectations may be something we all need to do better

obviously a guy at a 3rd rate school like campbell has interest in Nebraska (who wouldn't)

I just hope trev's being from iowa (people forget) isn't coloring his glasses & he aims higher
Matt Campbell had interest from the Jets and the Vikings. Anyone who knows football and coaching knows he's an excellent candidate. They're not pulling in top tier talent, but they develop what they get and they don't beat themselves. He could turn this team around. Plus I don't think Trev wants a quick fix. He wants a guy that he can keep for 10 years or longer. He put one purdy in the pros. Could probably develop the younger one too

No doubt he’s a solid coach. More than that??? Probably not.

“Interest”. Nfl can make bad hires, too.

Pass on campbell.

Campbell has a better job right now, Knebbers might be able to come up with more money but the Knebbers job has proven to be a career killer the last few decades. I think Matt is smarter than that.

As if Iowa State hasn't been a career killer forever? Even Dan McCarney wore out his welcome eventually and got forced out. Paul Rhoads is just an analyst now. Jim Walden said "If you stay at Iowa State, you're going to lose and you're going to get fired. That's very evident."

Campbell has reached his ceiling at ISU. He could probably get a better job than Nebraska, but ISU will never be a better job than Nebraska.

Matt Campbell doesn’t have an agent.
He doesn’t. And he also, on principle, will not discuss, negotiate, consider, or look at ANY jobs during the football season. He’s infamous for holding to that principle. I wouldn’t blame Nebraska for pursuing him, and they’d be damn lucky to get him, but there’s close to zero chance he’d leave his current job to jump into the mess that’s been happening in Lincoln. No offense…storied program and all that…but quite frankly you have a bit of a shite-show going on and Matt’s too smart to jump into that. He will leave ISU for the right job one day…but that job ain’t at NU.

So, we get Iowa St's bball coach that has worked out so well that we are going to take their head football coach too.. yeah, that makes sense. Listen. We need a home run hire that is a proven winner in the B1G. Not some guy that just beat Iowa for the first time EVER in an ugly game. This would be a stupid hire. Big pass on this guy. IQ < 70.

Looks like a "cultural fit" to me.

Iowa State is a better job in the year 2022 no doubt about it. Knebbers has a history of losing and a history of being a career killer. It’s not an attractive job and that is exactly what the national media is saying!

We’ll get a better coach than Iowa State could get. And we’ll take Campbell if we want him. But hopefully we’ll do better than that. We finally have an AD who will spend whatever it takes.

A smart coach goes where he can win and win quickly, money has little to do with it.
