Maybe not, but a 2.5 hour Zoom call is not nothing. Stranger things have happened
What the heck did they talk about for 2.5 hours? Obviously it didnt help.

The church does need money to operate and help others but it is greedy imo to ask people for 10% of their income for life. It should be whatever you feel like giving when you can. They're pretty strict in their observance of these things. God always needs money, I guess.
BYU always lead for him. Not a whiff if you were never in the lead for him, but narratives rule RRWhiffy Whifferson whiffs again!
Beautiful soulsWhat the heck did they talk about for 2.5 hours? Obviously it didnt help.
Not dude it was worse than that. It was something 9000 seconds.I’ve seen people say this was because of Mitchell. If Mitchell is a done deal why did UK have a 150 minute zoom with Kohler yesterday? Just to say no? I also worry that some high up people in the SEC are against Mitchell getting eligible and transferring to another SEC team.
They had a pre existing relationship from when Pope recruited him at BYU. Easy to see an hour being catching up and introductions to staff members they’re unfamiliar with. Then an hour and a half with fit talk, UK pitch, contract talk, etc feels very normal. What the heck did they talk about for 2.5 hours? Obviously it didnt help.

Maybe I’m just weird. My Italian mother in law can FaceTime someone for 3 hours and talk about absolutely nothing, no problem.
I’m afraid with Sankey and the SEC asking the judge to rule him ineligible he’ll have a hard time getting to play. Don’t get me wrong I’ve went on record on this board I’d want Mitchell more than anyone although Kohler would have been great. You do your due diligence in case Mitchell is ineligible.
Look Mitchell has always been the first choice ,heck nobody knew he was a possibility till the zoom,They told him to wait and see ,and he didn't want to ,so I believe Mitchell will get the injunction and be a cat,he was always first choiceWell regardless im glad we are hopefully getting Mitchell. This guy seems like he just jerked Uk around.
May his seven wivesNeeds to be the last Mormon pope ever tries to recruit
He just doesn't likeWe all knew it. BYU is owning Pope head to head. Wright was playing games, but still optics. Especially with national reporting over it. Then Chandler, now Jaxon. It was kinda obvious a dude who is like 15 minutes from campus would go there.
Someone has to fund The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It’s expensive to look that cheapThey're pretty strict in their observance of these things. God always needs money, I guess.
He obviously was interested in having him here. We didn’t make his final list for nothing. No matter if we led or not it’s still a miss for the team and Pope. I hope we can get MM wrapped up though, I think he’s a better prospect anyway.BYU always lead for him. Not a whiff if you were never in the lead for him, but narratives rule RR
I hope Mitchell gets ironed out. But Kohler was the better fit. We need rebounding and defense, and he is much better in one, and better in the other.Mitchell in my opinion will be a better fit and I do believe we get him assuming this poltics iron out
What about Garrison and the guard that went back to Fl and our shooter who went to Ole Miss? You do your due diligence in case Mitchell is ineligible.
What about them? Different situationsWhat about Garrison and the guard that went back to Fl and our shooter who went to Ole Miss?
Mitchell is the better playmaker and scorer. The ball will move well with him and with what Pope really likes to do.I hope Mitchell gets ironed out. But Kohler was the better fit. We need rebounding and defense, and he is much better in one, and better in the other.
Mark Pope was the coach before. Now he's gone and BYU is a big time program with cash.If these kids love BYU so much, why do they ever leave the state to play basketball then go back?
Because it’s his job to talk to recruits they may want and may want to come here. Some of yall act like we never used to talk to 20 plus recruits during a cycle. My favorite part was Jaxon’s dad doing all of these interviews saying no one knew anything…only for everyone to be right.
Why Pope continues to invite this type of negative PR is asinine to me. He’s lucky Mitchell will be committed in about a week so people will forget this “miss/whiff” but it’s still just being dumb.
"Out shooter who went to Ole Miss" was a scrub LMAOWhat about Garrison and the guard that went back to Fl and our shooter who went to Ole Miss?
Due diligenceWe didn't spend two and a half hours on a Zoom call with this guy earlier this week -- days before he was going to commit -- for "due diligence" you dope. We did it because we were trying like hell to get him to play here.
You can confirm Pope was there the entire 2hrs and not coaches and reps coming in and out with their own presentations? We didn't spend two and a half hours on a Zoom call with this guy earlier this week -- days before he was going to commit -- for "due diligence" you dope. Probably no more than most coaches. Problem is, some read into it too much and think we are all in on a recruit just because Twitter said we had a Zoom with them. How many hours do you think Pope has wasted on Zoom with these guys?
UK was on a call with him for hours, your argument is other members of the staff also joined in so it isn't a miss? You can confirm Pope was there the entire 2hrs and not coaches and reps coming in and out with their own presentations?
My argument is that he listened to several presentations by different coaches and NIL people and had a QA with them as well.UK was on a call with him for hours, your argument is other members of the staff also joined in so it isn't a miss?
So this guy was always going to BYU so it isn't a whiff? Then why did Pope spend hours on a call with him and has been connected to him for a month now.
You can't have it both ways on these guys. You can't act like we never had a chance with these guys so they don't count while the staff is spending tons of time prioritizing many of them and getting down to the final two in many cases as well. The amount of players we have lost to just BYU in the past 3 years is insane by itself, and that is just one school.
You can confirm Pope was there the entire 2hrs and not coaches and reps coming in and out with their own presentations?
Yep.Pope might need to lay low for a while if Mitchell doesn’t get cleared.
The SEC requires transfers to announce their intent prior to June, Mitchell did not. Not even remotely close to Aberdeens situation.Stanley did the same thing to Tennessee with Jalen Washington so it just seems he’s against 5th year players from 2022 getting that fifth year.
Mitchell is no different situationally than Aberdeen or Washington.
I think about that with every guy we miss, at least we probably annoyed someone at the other school and made them shell out, lol.His dad was pretty active with fans on X and seems like a pretty good dude.
Hopefully we got him a better payday. Once i saw where he was born and raised I never expected him here anyways.
I don’t think it cost us much if anything to take the call and we probably forced a competitor to pay more.
That's Popes secret weapon. He's getting to know every single college player so next year he already has the one up when it comes to game planning. How many hours do you think Pope has wasted on Zoom with these guys?
Better hope the SEC approves it since he wasn’t in the transfer portal by May 1st if not we won’t have Mitchell either!Nah, we have Mitchell in our back pocket. The Mormon went to the soaker school. Not a big surprise ultimately.
