Raiders played their best overall defensive game of the year. KM had virtually no rushing yardage and very little passing yardage. KM's defense was as advertised, but SP found just enough room to keep the ball moving. SP pass defense has grown tremendously over the year and this is the best pass defense that I have seen out of a SP team in its history. The KM receivers were as good as any that I have seen this year. Kids caught it if they got their hands on it. However, they were never able to get open deep. Great year for KM. They played tough and clean.

I am very happy for my Red Raiders and for my fellow fans, but I can't help feel for the Mountaineers and my friend KM2ASU. Even if they lose by a couple of TDs, they give us everything they have. It's a shame there has to be a winner or a loser when our teams meet. Best of luck to the Mountaineers next season.

Congrats to South Point, but also to the Mountaineers for a great season. Red Raiders bring back the 3a to Gaston Co. and we will try to do the same.

Sasha, I agree with you. The KM kids played their butts off and watching them go through the handshake and gathering afterwards, you could see the same disappointment that I have seen many times when the Raiders season had come to an end. Nothing for those kids to hang their heads about. They played some great ball and lost to 3 teams who will play for State Championships. That rarely happens.

KM had a couple of early gifts but couldn't do anything. Never could establish a consistent run game and couldn't quite get the passing game going. SP defense played very well. And I'm pretty sure the offense completed a pass for a big first down. Did that really happen?

The KM defense was very good but not as great as hyped. They were getting gassed by the second quarter. The KM offense was average at best. They seemed slow and not really capable of big plays, especially on the SP pass defense the way it has improved. SP played a solid game tonight but I don't think KM was anywhere near the level as WR last week. Once SP got out front, you never had the feeling that KM could come back. Had it not been for one trick play by KM and a SP fumble at the 2, the score would have been 35 or 36 - 0. Congratulations to KM for a good game and a great season. For SP, it is on to Chapel Hill where everyone in Cleveland County is already picking us to get stomped just like every week. I like SP chances, bring the giants on. Red midgets rule!

Just saw the trick play on tv and it was just as I thought when I saw it live. The KM player was on his knee when he pitched it back. He should have been down right there. I now declare SP actually had a 29-0 shutout of the Mounties.

Thought that SP had a block in the back on the fake punt, but saw Ch. 3's highlights and it looks as if it wasn't. I think that's what got Lloyd hot when he came onto the field.

That was work-place violence. That's what your President said. On top of that get over yourself. I come from a family of veterans and I am one myself, are you? In other words I served my Country in the Persian Gulf, you need not try and get on me with that ********, because it will not work. I'm NOT politically correct, I was making a point about SP, and anyone with the brain the size of a walnut understood that. CLOWN!

You freaking pansies playing that patriotic crap with me. Go join the Army, Navy, Air Force, or the Marines, do your time, and then talk. I did!

South Point SUCKS. I'd pull for the Taliban before I'd pull for them.

Idiot for Sure!

KM receiver never had possession according to referee so couldn't be ruled down before the pitch on hook and ladder.

How can you catch a pass while falling down, turn around and pitch it backwards without having posession? That would make the ref even more stupid than missing a knee. These refs have been purely awful this year. None of them even know how to correctly spot the football.

Heck of an effort by the receiver to tip the ball and from the view shown on WBTV it appeared to be a good "no call" as to the receiver was down by contact. An unusual way to complete the "HOOK AND LATERAL", not hook and ladder.

Excuse me. I wrongly assumed everyone knew enough about football to recognize non-technical terminology. Hook and lateral (aka hook and ladder to those that know football). On another technical note, down by contact is not a rule in high school football. Unless of course you mean down by contact WITH THE GROUND. Thanks cheerduck for the football lesson.
