I agree, he does have a good transfer class coming in. Where do you go to actually see transfer class ratings? While Beard did get a good one, I have trouble believing it is better than ours.
I like our transfers, but if you were ranking the top transfer classes there’s no way you’d rank ours ahead of Texas’s. Texas got 3 of the top 10 (according to 247sports), and that’s not even including Disu from Vandy and Bishop from Creighton. For comparison, our top 2 guys were rated #15 and #17.

Man, I wish I could be as cool as you! I’d say either your sisters or your Mom’s house. Maybe your wife, but I highly doubt you have a significant other.
I could be cool like you and put my significant other in my avatar like you.

I’m just here to say Gonzo is smarter then me and his words are what my thoughts are. He just expresses them better and actually has the patience to respond to you all consistently.

I may be even less patient than I am smart lol, but I appreciate it.

I think the vast majority of us feel pretty similarly. Above all, we want to win. Some people get irrational about it when we don't. The rest of us get irrational about them being irrational.

The second any of it stops being fun, we're messing up though. This is a hobby about a hobby. I refuse to be miserable about it.

Yeah, I suppose you could, but you’re not. I mean, your purple U is un-freaking believable! How long did it take you to figure that one out? So cool!

But you have to admit we have irrational people on both sides. The fire Cal no matter what and the Cal is perfect and never makes mistakes.

Absolutely.

It's just that I can understand why someone would be irrationally optimistic on a fan forum for their favorite team. I'm not going to try and dampen their spirits or ruin their fun.

There's essentially no objectivity here. The people who pretend to be are just abundantly negative and think their expectations somehow carry significance. None of what we say here matters at all.

So why would anyone show up and make everyone else miserable? If you don't feel like partying, stay home.

I get your point and I appreciate it. As much as anything I come here to talk about Kentucky basketball with UK fans, and like you said I do that with the understanding that nothing here I say matters. Which is why I feel like I don’t have to be a cheerleader all the time. I can say something is a cause for concern if I think it is. That’s not being miserable at all. Is it?

but the thing that does irritate me is the cheerleaders that absolutely roast people when they bring up concerns, “YOU DONT KNOW BASKETBALL AS WELL AS CAL! He’s a Hall of Famer and you’re not!” Okay Sparky, we got it.

NOT singling you out on that one. Just saying this is where there’s a disconnect and people that express REAL concerns get totally **** on here. And that gets old. You know?

Personally if I see gaps or holes in the team, and am then proven wrong by the squad I’m the first dude to say “oh ****, I missed that one. My bad.” Hell last year I said IJ reminded me of Marcus Lee. It took all of one practice for me to start my own thread calling myself out for it.

Yeah I hear you. And I think that's part of being a fan too. Nobody is happier when we win or more upset when we lose. That's why we're all here instead of shouting at the neighbors or whatever.

I'm just saying I don't feel the need to debate someone's enthusiasm. If somebody thinks we'll get every recruit and win every game, I can't change his mind because he's not living in reality. He's just having fun. I don't wanna take that from him. I wish I could feel like he does.

It's the people who are clearly here to take pleasure in misery that I argue with. Because that **** spreads. You've already seen it with Sharpe.

And while none of it matters in the actual recruitment, it does ultimately bum out a whole lot of people who come here as a fun escape. And if it's not fun, I don't understand why you'd log on.

Cal has done every single thing he "had" to do this offseason according to the people on here, yet they're still on here bitching. It's really tiresome. Some of you need to touch grass.

If you find yourself getting worked up, definitely good to step back.

I used to get genuinely angry when I first started posting online, but it's been years since then. I sort of miss it lol.

Doesn't mean you can't tell someone they're being an idiot though.

I would call someone dying in life devastating. I would call 9-16 a sucky season. Huge difference.
Well yes but this is a UK basketball board so I think it's pretty obvious I was talking basketball wise.I guess we shouldn't be here and care if they win or lose since bad things happen in the world.I guess they should shut this place down.

Oh GMAFB, lol. This is a basketball board. I think anything someone says here can be taken in the context of basketball, right?
I can't help that there are drama queens here. Not my fault they're in a different place in life where they're just getting into high school and the worst thing that has happened to them in the last year was our team going 9-16.

Don't try to ground their overstated drama.

You have zero clue what anyone on this board is going through because this is not a place to discuss your personal life.We just discuss the game.Frankly you are the one acting like a drama quuen.

Its almost like winning a championship changes how some view you as a coach.
That’s a pretty sad statement about the basketball knowledge on those people, since winning a championship is very much a lagging indicator of coaching prowess. At least the people who advocate Beard or someone like Nate Oats are saying so before they reach the pinnacle.

"Decent haul" haha, good one. Im not in love with Beard but that "decent haul" included Marcus Carr, Timmy Allen, Dylan Disu, Tre Mitchell, and that Bishop guy from Creighton. 3 of those guys were first team all conference.
Marcus Carr was third team all Big Ten.

Timmy Allen was first team all PAC 12 but they classify ten players as first team.

Tre Mitchell was first team all A-10.

That’s not much different than:

Sahvir Wheeler second team all-SEC

Oscar Tshiebwe second team all Big 12 (2020)

Kellan Grady first team all A-10

It’s going to be hard to be this snarky about Texas when it turns out they’re really good this year, Gonzo. But I do see what you’re doing. It’s a valiant effort.
He'll have another "emergency" and disappear until the draft.

Basically every list/ranking out there has their trio of Allen, Carr, and Mitchell. And thats not even mentioning Disu and Bishop who are both ranked around the top 25 range.

I know what the rankings look like. But do you really think there’s a big difference when the resumes are so similar?

Yes, by a decent margin. Having 3 transfers that are better than any of ours (although I still really like who we got) is certainly a "big difference"

Which of those guys scared off a player who wouldn't be on campus for another 15 months?

Sounds like Beard wastes his time recruiting top players that he can't get and after putting all his eggs in one basket and getting punked he has to take scraps to fill out a roster.
I hate to say this comment reminds me of another coach.

I don’t know, man. They are different players, positions, and skill sets, but the total package for each player ought to be similar if they earned similar honors. I don’t know how much these rankings can tell us. We already know what kinds of players they are because they’ve got college track records.

Maybe there’s still an upside component to the rankings. I think I would agree in that respect that Carr and Mitchell are better prospects.

Texas could legitimately roll out a starting 5 of transfers that could contend for the Big 12. That’s pretty good.

I mean I still post just less. When I see things like “that GM might get fired for possibly wasting 2.5 million” of course I and everyone else that has a brain will call you out for lacking any intelligence on the subject.

Baylor's been good for a while but they've done it without the great classes of recruits in the past.
2018- #45
2019- #88
2020- #33
2021- #13

Could be scary going forward.
