What more could we want or expect?

The kid has an amazing opportunity to achieve his ultimate goal and become a millionare as a teenager. AS A TEENAGER.

He sees the value and appreciates the life at UK. Cant blame him either way, Im just glad its in consideration and not an immediate "Im gone" like some players have already done for other schools.

But, that word that you capitalized is the fly in the ointment. A 19 year old millionare can have its pitfalls and his parents are smart enough to realize that. A second year of maturation, as well as game improvement, may be the best for him. I guess we will find out, shortly.

Gotta agree with caneintally. This sets up like a Calipari special! Alexander announces he leaves on Tuesday and Knox announces on Wednesday. I think the only other two to truly wait and see is Diallo and Gabriel. Washington and Vanderbilt both with surgeries coming up seem to indicate they will be back. Depending on scholarships, you may see Hagans and/or Montgomery then announce. I know they may want to play the AAU circuit but I can see them wanting to instead get a jump start this summer with the remaining Cats.
I believe this is UK's year for a summer bball trip as well, so another reason to get recruits signed for 2018-19 and start prepping for getting on campus in only 2 months.

Sophomore Knox... shew wee.
Shoot Fire, amen to that! Either way love the kid and will follow his career. Like most UK players in NBA, I buy their jersey to '''give back' for the joy they caused me.
Go Big Blue!!! Knox returning>Zion signing

Do you really? Have any pics of your collection? Would be cool to see all those jerseys in one collection. I don’t get into the memorabilia stuff but that just sounds cool

Knox wants the big stage. May be a few years before he gets it in the nba but he has it now at U.K. I could see all those guys announcing they will be back together. Knox Vanderbilt PJ

From the article:

"Meantime, here’s what Knox Sr. said about the family’s thought process heading into their discussion last week:

“He really loves his teammates and he made references to: ‘Man, can you imagine if we all came back?’ Him and PJ [Washington] are roommates and they were talking about it with Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]: ‘Can you imagine if we all came back what would happen?’ Man, that would be exciting,

“He was like, ‘Daddy, I really love the coaching from Cal and KP and Tony Barbee and Joel Justus and I love the BBN and I came here because of the stage, and I’ve got to take all that into consideration.’ It’s not just all about going straight to the NBA.”

“Kevin comes from a family with, to be honest with you, two educated parents who are not in need,” Knox Sr. told SEC Country last week. “We don’t need for Kevin to go out and buy us a house or buy us a car or something.”

Well said. Can't discount the value of enjoying this time in life while you can, after all isnt that what all that money is supposed to do for you later. He can enjoy one more year now of college and the chase for a championship and watching the final four and all the excitement that goes with it has to be temping for a kid to want to try and give it another shot before giving that up forever.

I have tried to explain to my grand children not to be too big of a hurry to grow up.....being an adult covers 3/4 of your life. Enjoy the first quarter because the last 3/4's isn't always a party....no matter who you are.

UNC was paying the Hansbrough's enough money that he could wait another year......
Weren't they paying some random newspaper company and writer in Missouri who wrote about how excited Hansbrough was on his official visit when he saw his name/jersey retired in the rafters next to Jordan and Worthy's?

The article only lasted a few hours and was zapped because doing such a thing would be an NCAA recruiting violation. We all know that UNC would NEVER cheat. [eyeroll][winking]

I don't think Knox's decision really comes down to basketball.

Lost in the discussion about his family not needing the money is the reality that sometimes kids who don't need the money grow up a lot differently than kids who do.

Not all 18 year olds are the same. Some guys are grown at 16. Some guys are kids at 22.

It doesn't sound like this has ever been a decision about draft stock. And I think that bodes well for us. Because the subtext there is "I'm not sure I'm ready to grow up yet" and when there are two good parents that are financially stable, the kid doesn't have to jump.

Or maybe former athlete dad tells him it's always scary and you just have to trust your game and learn by fire and he goes now. But I don't think it's about the draft stock.

I think he will leave or stay one of the two. I think he stays because he doesn't have to go. Doesn't need the money, doesn't need stay if he doesn't want to stay but I think he does so I think he will in the end choose to stay or maybe go, whichever he chooses I will be ok with unless he decides to go and I don't want that to happen. If he stays he could be a top 5 next year, unless he doesn't play well and drops down to a top 10, which isn't bad as being number 11. Either way I'm good.
I laughed at this until tears flowed.. its funny and at the same time seems to really express the mentality around here sometimes.. Well played..

Yo Knox had a 30 point game in a hostile environment against one of the best defensive teams in the country as a true freshman. If he comes back as a sophomore look out . I don’t want to get my hopes up but good lord if he comes back.

I don’t think Knox will come back, he’s young for a freshman but will have a grown mans bank account soon. He’s the only kid on this team I see being a good NBA player!

It's not just age but maturity. Disagree on NBA JV rebounded on an elite level, his per 40 averaged were freakish. 16 points 21 reb 8 offensive rebounds 2blocks and 3 asst a game. His positive productivity translates very well in the NBA this doesnt even account for having the best motor and being probably out best defender.

Aint that the truth. Seen to many pro athletes seem to lose their joy way too early and that's with all the money in the world.

Joakim Noah bypassed being the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Matt Leinart did it in the 2005 NFL Draft. Those type of things always surprises me. Both won national titles the previous year and returned. Leinart said he just loved college life and it was so short that he wasn't ready to leave.

Those type of scenarios blow me away.
Don't know about Noah going #1 i know he was a 1st round lock. But Jay Williams was THEE Consensus expected #1 pick in 2001 and he came back to Duke in 2002 to ultimately go #2.

Could Cal have adjusted his recruiting strategy to start having more upper class men? I think Shai, Baker, Quade, and PJ showed that he was doing this. Top 50 talent who could play immediately but have tremendous upside...hmm
I’ve wondered that myself. Cal may have already started doing what so many have said he should start doing.

Talent wise, Knox is ready. Physically, I don't think so. I have no idea what he will do, but I do think another year under Cal and his staff would do wonders for his game and his readiness for the NBA.

He is officially gone. Staff and players have been informed. No clue when he'll go public, but it has happened.
