What more could we want or expect?

The kid has an amazing opportunity to achieve his ultimate goal and become a millionare as a teenager. AS A TEENAGER.

He sees the value and appreciates the life at UK. Cant blame him either way, Im just glad its in consideration and not an immediate "Im gone" like some players have already done for other schools.

Man I would love to see him return. Honestly it didn't look like he had much fun this season, but maybe that's just his laid back demeanor.
Him coming back is a game changerchanger and he would certainly improve his draft position by doing so.

Well of course a decision is imminent lol. He has to eventually decide one way or the other doesn't he? I do love how Coach Cal makes his players wait to announce decisions until AFTER the college basketball season is over. I have no respect for players like Trae Young and Lonzo ball that announce they are leaving right after a loss in the NCAA tournament. I expect Knox to leave, but at least our players show respect for the fan base and their teammates by waiting to announce decisions.

Joakim Noah bypassed being the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Matt Leinart did it in the 2005 NFL Draft. Those type of things always surprises me. Both won national titles the previous year and returned. Leinart said he just loved college life and it was so short that he wasn't ready to leave.

Those type of scenarios blow me away.

IMHO, the earlier the announcement, the more likely he is to turn pro. This gives him time to find an agent, finish his school work, line up a training schedule and set up individual workouts with teams.

I fully expect Shai to announce he is entering the NBA Draft tomorrow for the above reasons.

Announcing early could mean just about anything. It could mean he's doing it early so Cal and recruits know he's going to be on the team.
Could be one of those guys that just wants the decision made so he can get on with it.
Could be a hype thing, let everyone know that he's not happy with how the season ended and he wants to get to work right away with his teammates and not delay it any longer.

There's no point in having an announcement unless you have decided definitively one way or the other. I can't see Knox making the decision to return for another year this quickly so I am leaning toward him declaring and signing with an agent. He has the tools already to be a really good pro.

Why couldn't/wouldn't he make it so quickly? He met with his family over the weekend and made a decision right then and there. Might as well announce it.

It will not surprise me to hear him say that he is coming back for another year. But if he leaves i hope him the best. Right now i think he will return for another year.

A lot of the players who make surprise decisions to stay actually seem to do it early on. Ends the drama and speculation and allows them to focus on finishing the semester and prepping for the summer / beginning of the next year.

Trying not to get my hopes up, but returning a guy like Knox would be massive for us. If we have Knox, PJ, and Vanderbilt all back, with Quade and Richards and SKJ and the newcomers, we're a legit top 5 team.

He could have. But he's still projected as a late lottery type guy and who knows what happens at the combine and team workouts. There could be someone drafting 8th or 9th that loves his game and tells him they want to draft him there. IMO there is still too much important information that is unknown for him to decide to come back. He could pull a Bridges though and say he wants another year of college and the NBA can wait.

He will either announce that he is staying or announce that he is leaving while hiring an agent. He knows where he will go in the draft if he leaves. He doesn’t need the feedback that others do. It will be stay or go when he does announce. No benefit whatsoever for him to just test the waters.
This is 1000 % correct

IMO he's coming back with a chance to go #1 next year with a lot of hard work. His upside is big time.

Well said. Can't discount the value of enjoying this time in life while you can, after all isnt that what all that money is supposed to do for you later. He can enjoy one more year now of college and the chase for a championship and watching the final four and all the excitement that goes with it has to be temping for a kid to want to try and give it another shot before giving that up forever.

Noah's parents were well to do, professional sports, believe Leinart similar parents well to do.

A Sophomore Knox >>>>Any 5 star Frosh for next year.
Yep. Even with his faults, he has proven he has the ability to be a outstanding player. A second year at UK would elevate his game and the team. It sure would be a nice surprise.

Yeah, definitely adds a contributing factor but I guarantee neither of those set of parents had the net worth of what a No. 1 draft pick's contract was going to be.

I think he will leave or stay one of the two. I think he stays because he doesn't have to go. Doesn't need the money, doesn't need stay if he doesn't want to stay but I think he does so I think he will in the end choose to stay or maybe go, whichever he chooses I will be ok with unless he decides to go and I don't want that to happen. If he stays he could be a top 5 next year, unless he doesn't play well and drops down to a top 10, which isn't bad as being number 11. Either way I'm good.

Can you put a price on a Championship? Plus Noah grew up European, whom had different value system. Money does not equal happiness. Especially to those who have it.
