I can't be the only one who chuckles at how just a little movement causes Brooks' dreads to have a life of their own.
This. Our entire team desperately needs to visit a barber. Every single player except Nate with long hair and all of next years kids are the same. Some of our guys can pull off the look like Nick and Immanuel but Keoin, Khalil and Tyrese need help. Maxey kinda pulls it off but he would look much better with shorter hair.

I wonder if Cal doesn’t have the same talk with guys now that he used to about their appearance. About how being more clean cut does more for your brand. That speech got Brandon Knight to cut his hair.

As for Brooks, I think he’s just off to a bad start. He’s got skill. Whitney is the one that concerns me between the two.

Dude shot 80% from the freethrow line in high school, not sure whats up there. 28% from 3 in HS so that looks to be consistent.

Are you seriously talking about our players hair cuts and how good they look? What a weird thing for someone to discuss...Do you really care how good they look? Odd man.

Hey if y'all dont put them on ignore they're going to ruin every thread.

I promise you they aren't here for discussion or to have their perspective changed. They want to do exactly what they're doing.

They aren't reading your rational explanations of why they're wrong. They don't care. Stop wasting your time.

And he hit 69% in the EYBL, on 161 attempts.

It's Freshman jitters, mainly. He's not a great shooter, and probably won't ever be, but he's also not a hopeless case. It's not uncommon for players to start out throwing bricks from the FT line and then improve dramatically as the year goes on. Anthony Davis started out 19/36 in his first 7 games, but finished the season at 71%.

Long athlete that is not a skilled basketball player. Can't shoot or dribble particularly well.
This is actually completely false. The problem is you are judging a player on what you have seen so far instead of what he is . No player is going to show you their best selves ( besides Zion , AD types) the first month or so of their college careers. Brooks is a good shooter ( he even shoots free throws well normally ) and a great athlete . IN HS he scored a ton from 15 to 23 feet and made a lot of 3's . His problem is shot selection right now . We have seen when he shoots good shots they go in ( like the 3 and the 17 footer he made last night) . He also is a good ball handler but again he is just adjusting to the speed of the game. But sure lets make assumptions about a guy overall after 5-6 games. Seems smart .

Once he settles in he will be a beast. I have always thought he is a much better pro prospect then Whitney . Whitney's shot is suspect Brooks' isn't in reality and both are elite althetes.

He has potential and seems willing to take it slow and not be too skittish or too shy. He has actually made some outside shots

It's funny you say Brooks is an elite athlete. I have heard from the announcers on more than one occasion that he is a long athlete but isn't the most athletic. He doesn't have the quick twitch that the elite athletes have. Whitney is more athletic but Brooks is probably more skilled at this point.

Love his energy. As always, the ? Is will he be able to harness it before he leaves. Don’t see it coming to a lot of fruition in just 1 year, but we’ll just have to be happy with what progress he does make.

What other choice do we have?

This is a classic "old man" post.

Kids are always gonna wear their hair the way is trendy for kids of their generation. And there's always gonna be old farts who don't like and complain about it.

There are 3 acceptable haircuts: High and tight, crew cut, buzz cut. Are the scissors in their dorms broken?

I’m 31... I don’t know, maybe I’m just partial to a bald fade and burst fade. Never have cared for the really long hair. I thought when braids died out in the early to mid 2000’s I wouldn’t have to see them again but damn if they haven’t came back like herpes 10-15 years later.
