I was excited to get him, but he has a way to go and is by far our worse FT shooter. Not sure, but I think he is like 2 for 12. I know 1 game he went 1 of 6. Luckily everyone else is killing it at the line this year.

He needs to be practicing free throws all night, every week. I am already having nightmares of him going 1-6 from the line in some NCAAT game.

This is 100% guaranteed to happen. It’s so easy to imagine him having a big game as the team’s energy player whose extra plays are keeping us in the game, but we ultimately lose by three points and he shoots 4-11 from the free throw line.

Year two for Keion will be his breakout year as our stretch four. If Kuminga is here, play them both together and damn the shot blocking for a season.

Brooks will be fine. He does not need to shoot 3s with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. But he is loaded with athleticism and plays with a lot of energy. He will figure it out. He needs to do the things he can do and not force it on the offensive end. He has had a couple of whoa moments throwing dunks down. I believe he will be a rebounding machine come January

I like him as an energy guy, lots of potential but raw.

I remember this summer me having an argument with another poster here (don’t remember who) that was saying he has 2 guard skills. Lol. Identify yourself, whoever you are.

I think by the end of the year Cal will have him play inside with that motor and he will be fine. History practice the free throws but the effort is there and that’s half the battle.

I remember that too. Not your specific argument but people thinking hed play the 2. I remember it being in a starting 5 thread (one of the hundreds) and the argument he was more guard material than Whitney with Whitney being more suited for small ball 4. Neither of them are 2s, at all. Both are 3s at the next level but as of today, only Whitney has shown the ability to shoot it.

Brooks, as someone else said, needs to embrace the power forward roll. Solidify his handles to be able to put it on the floor a little against a less mobile big, and develop a Nick Richards-esque jump hook against smaller defenders. Hes the perfect mismatch nightmare. Come back next year and be PJ washington 2.0 with an improved jumper and dominate and go top 20 in the draft. Boom.

Just has to catch up to the speed to college D1. Saw some glimpses
Yep, I see potential there. He's got some catching up to do, but he is good for a couple good plays/dunks each game. He needs to stick to mid-range and in for now. I like his effort, though, and his motor. As you say, the speed of the game is his problem as much as anything. He won't look like the same player in 6 weeks. His growth will be a key to this season, along with Whitney and Juzang.
