Good point but Wichita State didn't beat any good teams. Dayton is their best win and that was a back and forth down to the wire game. Those games were in November and December and as others have said, 5 games is not a decent sample size. Think about playing in the SEC or ACC. You have the really good teams and you have the bottom teams. But the bottom line is you have 18 conference games against P5 level competition when you are in the ACC or SEC. Sometimes you play well and get a quality win and other teams you stink it up against a bottom feeder that if an outsider looked just at those one or two or three games they may assume you are overrated.
Look at the Noles: We lost at Georgia Tech and at Pitt who are in the bottom of the ACC and lost at Syracuse who didn't make the field. We also lost to Temple on a Neutral floor in November and Temple has an RPI in the 100s. If you isolated those four games you would think we stink. At the same time the Noles won 13 games against teams that made the NCAA Tournament field. That is why it is a total body of work. Playing 5 games against P5 competition is not enough games to truly evaluate a team's level based only on those 5 games. You have to look at the total 35 game schedule. Wichita dominated their conference. Their opponents were overmatched. But it doesn't mean they aren't better than a lot of the Power 5 teams they might play in the NCAAT.
