Pay big money for a defensive coordinator that can recruit and bring in a Remington/Steinkuhler/Wiegert/Taylor as Mentor/Guru who can give input as to how it’s done off season and on season for this terrible managed O-Line ( in past)..

Can’t do that. He lost a game. That’s a disqualification on this board

At a minimum, the talent level would drastically improve over time with him as the head coach. If it didn't work out, at least the foundation would be significantly better talent wise than when he got here.

Hard to to come in with this dumpster fire and coach Zombies that that have poor training and losing mind frame.. God would have a tough time with this squad!
Give him.. Mickey.. an off season with quality coaches and trainers before passing judgment!

Need to see some serious talent on both lines recruited this off season and or brought in through transfer!

Keep bringing in good talent with upside and work this years team to max it’s chances for success.

He needs to keep evaluating the coaches and players here as well. When he decides on the changes he thinks will work the best, May he get the chance to make them. I like what I see overall from the changes he is making. May this second bye week help the defense in its growth for the year.

I am of a similar mind

It’s crazy how many hung on to our previous coach (a world class a-hole and dipshit) all the way to the end yet are so willing to throw a fellow former standout quarterback away with his soiled bath water

I don’t give a **** about experience. When the lights are bright, you either have it or you don’t & Mickey appears to have it

We should all be over the moon that a member of the NU and Osborne family who literally gave his body to the program has come back to lead us with the passion we all share, but instead we are clamoring for some lame outsider or another

You should get a hold of Trev pronto and let him know, you made an extraordinary case for his hire.

No, Mickey Joseph is not qualified to be HC here. Do I hope he stays on staff? Absolutely...as WR coach and recruiting coordinator. Nobody loves Nebraska more than Mickey Joseph

Let’s make permanent the next Husker that’s nice to us. I say give them the interim tag and a 4-5 year contract and then at the end we’ll see if he’s good enough

We need to stop asking past players to come and teach our kids "how we did it". We need to start a new path and let the past be. I think we saw with Frost that the older players/coaches/fans are keeping us from moving on. Honer them every once in a while but let them enjoy their retirement.

Let's get the best people we can and let them do their jobs.

Let's say give us a coach that can build a program that is proven. I like Mickey, but c'mon. man.

Wrapped up in a couple of wins against ********. Here we go again. yeah they play hard for him, but there is more to the college game than that. He is not ready for that. Find a proven coach that builds. Use your head. We will find one. Mickey, although a good WR coach, is not the answer. Keep him on, but other than that? His resume is not exactly stellar. He will not be the head coach. I promise you that.

His resume is much more stellar than this post. And I'm not sold on giving him the job. You just post like trash.

I don't know if there are two more polar opposites than Mickey and our previous head coach

I post reality. His resume, aside from LSU sucks. He is about to be 2-4 as a head coach, however he is a smooth talker and his players don't quit. Yeah. give him the job.

Stellar? Ok. You are the man. Learn the hard way like every other homer. That's cool, though. He might be kept on as an assistant, but they are already talking to a certain coach about the job. Save this post and we will talk in 5 weeks.

Well, Trev, name that certain coach and we can talk about it in 5 weeks then.

I love MJ and I actually think he would be a really good head coach. But as I said weeks ago, this idea that the rest of this season was his "audition" for the job is evidence that Trev is in no way serious about hiring him permanently. Frost and his staff woefully under recruited talent on both lines and at linebacker. They then proceeded to under coach and under develop even those players they did get. The result is a roster that will need two years to replenish via the transfer portal, Juco recruiting, and normal recruiting. There is no way that MJ coaching this current roster is a fair and accurate gauge of his abilities in terms of win/loss ratio. I highly doubt we win another game this year -- maybe Iowa -- but none of that is MJ's fault. He does seem to have the guys playing harder.

So if we do win 2-3 more games. How would you feel about him getting the gig?

I would not mind if he went 0-5 and got handed the gig. What Trev has to do is to really take a long hard look at how MJ relates to his players and to his staff. In other words, look at his leadership qualities and forget the stupid won-loss record since that means absolutely nothing. Frost left us with an absolute **** fire of talentless lines and four years of no development. MJ cannot fix that in half a season. I would prefer it if we hired a seasoned head coach. But which one that is rumored is actually worth a **** really? Aranda, Leipold, Kleiman, Rhule, O'Brien ... they all have downsides if you look closely despite having an upside as well. Every hire is a risk. There is no slam dunk hire.

If by some miracle we got Kiffin here I would love that. But quite frankly, none of the usual suspects makes me all giddy inside with delight at the the thought of them being our head coach. ANYONE is an improvement over Frost, which is the good thing in all of this.

So if Trev hires MJ I would just sit back and say, "Ok, cool. I hope he works out as our coach."

This isnt true.
I don't know either personally, but:

frost is an outward dickhead

Mickey fostered like 75 kids out of the kindness of his own heart

seems to me, personality wise, everybody on Earth lands somewhere in between those two

if you'd like to elaborate on your opinion (or perhaps you have facts?), I'd be interested to hear more

Trev is in the unfortunate position of having to justify the hire. Really hard to do that with Mickey, short of him winning the remainder save Michigan, even if we can say it isnt his fault and the players really like him, as far as has been reported to us by "the media."

If Trev really wants him around, give him a bunch of money, give him 30 different titles, except for head coach.

I see it like this exactly. You have it and your record shows it or you don't. It isn't complicated.

If Nebraska cannot land a head coach that wins and has proven it. Then I say let Mickey have a shot.

All the coaches I've seen people throw out here are .600 coaches or coaches with 2 years on the job.

Mickey can legit recruit, which cannot be overstated for Nebraska, he wouldn't bail once he becomes successful and I don't see him mailing it in when things don't go his way.

How do we know that Mickey "has it"? Is it the wins over those powerhouses Indiana and Rutgers that has you convinced? Pump the brakes and see how the season plays out before proclaiming that Mickey "has it".

If Mickey can get the troops to win this weekend vs Illinois, then Trev needs to offer him the job. Done deal!!!
