True. The Big12 has to have another team other than Kansas start performing in the NCAA tournament, but this is a new year and a new crop of teams and talents. Past performance in the NCAA has zero impact on how any of these current teams will perform in the tourney. Kentucky didn't do well in the NCAA last year. By your logic, this year's Kentucky team will not do well in the NCAA tournament. By realistic logic, you can see that is false, because this Kentucky team is not the same as last year's team and has a solid title shot. In the same way, the Big 12 teams this year are not the same as the Big 12 teams last year.
Didn't say a thing about this year. I'm talking about the perception of both leagues every year. Go back fifty years if you like. The SEC has outperformed the B12 in the tournament with worse seeds. The SEC gets poor seeding, partly because of the league's perception.

TCU is Kenpom #34. That's a solid tournament team and a good win on the road. Major upgrade in coaching can do that for a team. The Big 12 has 3 Kenpom top 10 teams (KU WVU and Baylor), Texas Tech and Iowa State are Kenpom top 30 teams, and KSU, OSU and TCU are Kenpom top 40. To say that the Big 12 is a weak conference is nonsensical.

The rest of the league have gotten their numbers from playing weak non-conference schedules. Then, they keep them by beating each other. There isn't a 3 seed in the bunch, other than KU.

Overall everyone claims Kansas is so great because they always win the big 12. Overrated every year. We had our Florida's and Tenn, LSU and so on. Big 12 has the same thing. But the media makes it a big deal. Fact is both are about the same.

And Bill Self has a hair peice.
Tennessee and lsu??

It has been 10 years since the SEC has finished the year ahead of the big 12 in conference RPI. The computers aren't biased. Again, the big 12 has not had the top end success, especially in the tournament, but top to bottom, it is a damn good basketball conf. Top RPI conf the last 3 years.

Do you think kenpom and all the other computer rankings don't take into account SOS?
Right now, Kenpom has 8 big 12 teams ranked ahead of the 3rd team from the SEC.

Just proves the RPI is the wrong model to use. It's a conference full of middle of the road teams that are no threat to win big, but don't lose to bad teams.
I mean come on, KU won a title in 88 and 08, what else has the conference accomplished?
I guess it comes down to what you value as a fan, titles or a reputation as a good conference?
I choose final fours and titles, I bet KU fans would say the same.

It's the same thing every year. "The BIG12 has X amount of teams ranked in the top X", but not a 1 of them beyond KU has done anything when it really counted. What's important to you?

TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State are the only 4 Big XII schools not to make the Elite Eight since KU's conference championship streak started. And Iowa State and Oklahoma State have both made the Sweet 16 during this time.

The Big XII hasn't performed as well in the tournament as they could've, but they've still had very good overall success.

With the seeds that those schools were given they dam well better get to sweet 16's and a couple of E8's.
Why is that being portrayed as something to celebrate? You been hanging out with IU fans?
Also, without looking, I'll bet you those teams that made it to the sweet 16 and E8 did not get there by beating higher seeded teams, they did it by beating the seeds they were supposed to beat.
And besides that, the SEC has had plenty of programs NOT named UK that made it to the sweet 16, come on, that can't be the criteria to be used to judge what is a top conference and what isn't.
