See where Kansas is putting big money in stadium and practice areas for football. They will offer lance long term big money contract I think. Don’t believe they will let him get away to go back to 2-10 after spending that kind of money

Don’t think they will be able to stop it if Nebraska or Wisconsin decides to go after him.

They've already offered him a long term big money contract. He hasn't signed it, (smartly) he's going to play the field.

You are wrong. They are still working up thanks. I imagine when/if bowl eligibility is met we will know some news

We’ve been down this path before. Can we stop chasing this years flavor? Kansas has a ridiculous schedule in front of them. They played their 5 easiest games the first 5 games. They could honestly go 5-6 and would everyone be trying to land LL then?

I think Lance is the flavor of the year and we went down this road with Frost. Between Lance and Mickey so far, I’m taking Mickey. MJ will get talent in Lincoln. Look at KU’s 2022 & 2023 recruiting classes. Lance gets guys to over achieve and that just doesn’t work in Lincoln. Banking on guys to play perfect ball is harder when there’s pressure on you. There will always be pressure on the Huskers because of our fan base. We won’t ever get the benefit of catching other teams coming in flat to Lincoln. Not with packed houses. Mickey a better fit by far and it’s ridiculous others don’t see it

If he wins seven or eight games, I still want him. If he came here, every year the most he would lose would be two or three, maybe four games. That's the reality of college football. You rise up once in a while and only lose one or two games but those years are outliers unless you're Alabama and Ohio State

If our QB is out for the season I don't see us winning many more.

You are cleary very nervous about us taking your coach. If you weren't you wouldnt be hitting up our board to tell us how KU is investing in football. Get real. If UW or NU wants him he is leaving. Our stadium always sells out with 85k people in the stands. We'll pay him more. We're in a stable rich conference. We are a football school. We can bring in money for NIL. I hope your post made you feel good. You AD found Leipold, I'm sure he'll find a suitable replacement for you.

I just made the point that there has been no new contract put on the table since the 1st week of the season. That I do know. I talk sports I don't get nervous about them anymore in my life. Im lame but not THAT lame. What happens happens. I don't think he is leaving however at his age. It's not like we are getting 20 years out of Lance anyway.

Hopefully Mickey works out for you guys and we are all happy next year

Really? Do tell.
thats what my dad told me..but then he thought we would beat miami in the rosebowl...lol

but thats what I heard a few folks say would be a good fit also.
as far as the best avalible

so this is my opinion only, rhule has a history of program rebuilding..and is more then likely done with the nfl

To say Mickey is WAY ahead of Lance in getting talent to Lincoln is a bit of a stretch. Lance has been a head coach in smaller conferences and divisions. He maximizes his teams play. I believe Mickey would get more talent to Lincoln. Which is very important in a better conference that is generally more well-coached top to bottom. The key is Mickey as a head coach and what he accentuates and lets his assistants do. He will have a very large money pool for his 10 assistants and staff. An initial key is what assistants are retained. The new head coach‘s assistant like and knowledge pool and those assistants who are demonstrated coordinator or more ability in all facets related to college football at the top level.

How's that move to the B1G going? In all actuality with all the Husker fans thinking going back to the old prairie plains conference is gonna solve all the issues, you should just take their spot. That would pump some money into your program.
Do you remember when anyone talked about Nebraska? I live in the SE and can assure you nobody talks about your team. Basically...MU

Big money for Kansas is like 40% what Nebraska would pay if they wanted him

I live in Arizona. I am from Orlando. There are plenty of Nebraska fans in both places bub. I'm a Gator fan who knows nobody talks about my team because of a decade of being average to awful. I can tell you I know a lot more Husker fans then Missouri or Kansas football fans. IF AND THATS A BIG IF, they ever get back on track then you'll hear about them again. They have a large alumni base for such a tiny populated state.

I'm actually rooting for your Jayhawks to crash the party. Just like I was rooting for Cincy last year. But Nebraska football is like Kansas basketball. If this were a basketball discussion I would say Kansas could poach the Husker coach. This is a football discussion though. Nebraska has the big advantage here.

BTW, I do believe Kansas will be in the B1G down the line.

Kansas had to make a half-hearted commitment to the sport or give it up entirely is my guess. And if they want to play in a good conference for their basketball team, they had to do something for football.

I personally think LL is a better coach than Mickey right now. But I think MIckey can be really good, especially with his recruiting prowess. I hope Mickey gets the NU job and KU keeps LL. As a fan of both, that's a win-win.

I think the wheels are set in motion for rhule
I think the wheels were set in motion for Bill Cowher in 2003 but we saw how that turned out. I think the wheels are set in motion on a lot of coaches right now. The wheels are in the flirting stage. Everyone is “interested” because at worse it’s leverage elsewhere at the very least.

Don’t get me wrong, Lance is a fine coach. But there’s a lot of fine coaches in the B1G who can find talent deep and scheme. But can Lance recruit better than Iowa, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. No.

Mickey will out recruit all of those schools plus more. HC still closes deals. Same with Busch as D-cord. And their good coaches. Maybe LL has a little more discipline style of ball but Jim’s and Joes beat Xs and Os, especially when you have both.

I would love to see MJ do insanely good and run the table and get the position. He can recruit and I believe he's hungry. He loves the program obviously, it would scratch the whole demographics fetish for the conspiracy theorists, and really make TA job easier.

I just hope that if he does get the position he doesn't just settle with the staff he's got or just hire some buddies but goes and get's the best he can out there. And I hope they get that toughness talk turned into running the ball. I find smashing the ball down the opponents throat more satisfying.

Then Kansas can be happy too. I think they deserve better than they've had.

Don.t need your money. Nebraska and every other school in B10 will receive 100 Million per year. B12 35million WOWZA!

We don't know how well Mickey will recruit as a head coach. Are good recruits going to want to come play for an unproven head coach like him? They don't know what kind of offense he's going to run.

And how do you know Lance wouldn't be able to recruit very well with the resources and tradition at Nebraska?

A head coach who can really recruit talent to Lincoln at many positions will, in time, be known probably for his coaching on the field. It’s the Jimmies and Joes that wins games if the coaching isn’t a detriment. We have had to many coaches that didn’t do either in satisfactory ways as our record and lack of draft picks over the decades have shown.

I like MJ but you are dead wrong

LL is the real deal. He knows how to build a program from ground up. Kansas is the cesspool of college football but not anymore with the way they are playing. MJ never has.

LL is a proven developer of talent across the program. MJ has at receiver

LL is a proven CEO. MJ is work in process, but who knows

LL is an efficient recruiter but don't if he will be a great recruiter. MJ is a proven recruiter

There are a lot of questions about MJ and the rest of the season won't eliminate them

Good post. The qualities that LL has are not that common and they take decades to develop.

But, you can hire stud recruiters that will buy into the type of players you want for your program
