Four star athlete/DB, committed to state, flipped to alabama late in the process, enrolled at Alabama in may. Now at emcc. This happens every year and will no doubt continue to happen. These kids need someone/anyone to give them good advice.

Sholl does. They never learn.
Although I don't get on them too hard about Bama, I mean, they have a pretty high chance to win a title if they sign there, as long as Saban is coach. But the rest of them would do just as well at State or Ole Miss.
Just need to lower the scholarship limit from 85 to 70-75. That would prevent Bama doing this more than anything
Freeze and Mullen locked it down as much as anybody ever has, and it made a difference. Hopefully we will start getting a lot of these guys back via the transfer portal.I know this is captain obvious here, but neither program is ever going to reach its full potential if we keep losing 40% or more of our blue chip recruits out of state. I get it with Alabama, too. But they aren’t the only school coming in here and winning battles. Hopefully Leach and Kiffin will start eliminating that. Because as much as I enjoy y’all losing, I enjoy seeing Mississippi kids succeed and that success run through Mississippi, just as much.

70 sounds about right. And give the 15 dropped ones to baseball. It'll never happen though. Sigh.

Sucks for the fifteen kids who would lose out.
SJWs are circling with pitch forkshow would any kids lose out if the scholarships are shifted to other sports?

You’re right, it’s not just Alabama. I mentioned this in another thread the other day, but 4 of the top 5 MS prospects are likely headed out of state, and both OM and MSU are fighting like hell to just land 3 of the top 10.
Hadad and Faulk were just talking yesterday about when you go into LA and recruit a solid player, you have to live with the fact that LSU can and oftentimes will swoop in and get them at the last minute. However, when you’re dealing with that on one end and also the same LSUs, Bamas, and UGAs of the world poaching MS’s top talent, seriously… what in the world are you supposed to do? I don’t know what the answer is for out of state talent, but Leach and Kiffin simply have to kill the poaching. Get that NIL $$$ ready

If football scholarships were lowered by 15, it’s not like they’d disappear. Just redistributed to other sports. That argument is silly.
Ever opportunity “lost” in football would be an opportunity gained in baseball, track, tennis, or other men’s sports. Zero net change overall, and it brings some desperately needed parody to each college AD’s biggest moneymaker.

Scholarship limits are meaningless now with NIL. Do you think a million dollar QB gives a damn? He will just pay his own tuition.
It isn’t a zero net change in the color of the person’s skin that would be receiving that scholarship. That is what makes them angry and why no one will touch this subject at the higher levels with a ten foot pole.
You would probably get greater minority participation in baseball over time if more scholarships were available. Notice Vandy has a lot of minority players because they are able to offer more aid.
There are also a ton of minority track athletes who would love to get more aid.
Recruited players have to be on scholarship. A 5 star QB can't be a walk-on. There are rules against that

The only players that would lose out are at the Div II or Div III level. The bottom fifteen that would have gone to a P5 school would now go G5, and the bottom fifteen that would have gone G5 would now have scholarships at the FCS level, and the bottom 15 at FCS would slide down to Div II and so forth and so on. Just because a guy doesn't get a scholarship offer from an SEC or P5 school, it doesn't mean they have 'lost out' on an opportunity. AND, if those guys go to a lower level and show out, they can now hit the transfer portal and immediately move back up to a higher level of college football without any worries of sitting out.

Limiting D1 scholarships could help HBCUs.
