He’s going to enjoy his very very very close bench seat the rest of the year. I bet that swelling miraculously goes down in the summer.
It’s actually pretty sad seeing so many fellow fans who are still buying into this ridiculous nonsense that the guy is still injured (if he ever was at all), but hey, to each their own!

It’s not my intelligence that’s being insulted! As far as I’m concerned, they can believe Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real as well! It’s actually pretty entertaining to be honest, now that I think about it.

Saw a article where he is now projected as the 18th pick. Seems his draft stock is now going down which makes sense given his current swelling issues and not having a lot of time on the floor to showcase his skills or at least show his knee is ok.

I give the kid the benefit of the doubt because sitting out is hurting him and he seems like a good person . The timing of the comments made by his dad were definitely poorly timed but I chalk it up to frustration with his knee.

This was a poor decision to pay him top $ with his injury status. Hindsight is 20/20 but boy his money may of put us over the top with landing some top talent that we missed out on.
He’ll take the 18th pick, and count his lucky stars all day everyday, because if he actually played, it would be more like the 58th pick, and everyone associated with the guy knows this!

You’ll see, if this guy ever makes on to a NBA court, which I give about a 20% chance of happening because he’s getting by on his looks alone so far!

Latest news came out today that the staff had led him through a very, very, very light workout, and he had some light swelling afterwards, so they are continuing to hold him back.

The question I have is, when he came back and played for the 3 or 4 games he did, and had swelling after.....was that his first instance of swelling? I would think that if he was going to swell some, he would have already done so from the training and obstacles they were putting him through trying to get him back to game ready. Now, im some dumb, but not plum dumb. I know that training and practice is not as strenuous or demanding on a body as full on game action is, BUT IF swelling is the issue, then I think it would have arisen (swelling pun intended) before, in workouts and training leading up to his return. Or heck, maybe I am plum dumb.
Not really a good sign if he has swelling especially after a light work out, they may have to have doctors scope the knee.

I really dont disagree with you at all. He's being drafted on potential and his freakish size/athleticism. His game is fairly limited on offense and he's a poor shooter.

If healthy I think he's a top ten pick just for potential. With current circumstances he may be grateful to just go in the first round and try to make any $ that he can.

i think pope will have this dilema at the PG and PF slot as well. what big time PG will come here if Lowe is on the roster? can you really going into next year with jelavic and mo d as the PF? i think we all like jelavics upside but not sure you can put all your eggs in that basket.

i actually do think moreno and JQ compliment each other well. florida makes it work with condon and handlogten. but someone would have to be cool with coming off the bench.
I would recruit over Jelly and Mo. I would bring in another top PG and tell Lowe we want him back, he will play, but we have to replace DA anyway. Also need a another top guard to replace Oweh. I wouldn't recruit over Chandler or MM

Is it your opinion that he was available at the beginning of the season?

I am amazed that JQ managed to play at all. Everything I have read indicates an injury like JQs can take over a year to fully heal, to the level needed to play college or pro basketball. NBA will not back down from taking him because by summer camps JQ will be 14 to 15 months post surgery.
It is now much less of a gamble for an NBA team to take him early in the draft than it was for Pope to take him ,with the high price tag, and very little chance of playing. jmo

This is embarrassing 🙄 And it got likes lol .He tore his ACL , meniscus, and fracture is knee cap just under a year ago. It's obvious after the St. John's game he was struggling. Also Im sure you understand how bad leg injuries can be on a big man. But yeah he's faking . That was the dumbest thing I've read on rafters in a while .

He’s going to be a top 10 pick.

Only thing that could change that is playing more this season.

Initial swelling began after St John’s game. Played through it the next couple games but was no where near 100%. Night and day difference in his mobility during that St John’s game and the other games. Sucks because he truly is a good kid. Swelling has actually gotten worse now and unfortunately he won’t be coming back at this point. We have our 9 man rotation and it’s time to buckle down and enjoy the ride.
From my eyes , there was a noticeable difference in his explosiveness he had in the St John’s game vs the Alabama and Mizzu games .

I’m not sure.
I originally thought the same as most other people, but I think he may actually be hobbled a little. I’ve watched him in time outs, going and coming from the locker room, and other subtle times and it always looks the same. Got a slight gimp.

Look, I’ve seen him at Ladies games walking normally. How does he still have swelling?

Good to know. OP..... JQ with continued swelling... ok .... ( means for me ) no distractions off court or on court with him, he aint playing the rest of the year, he shut down.

he gone.

end of story, next man up as always. less distractions and focus on the job at hand.

We dance with the team we got.

Go Big Blue !

that bellarmine game he was stuck in the mud trying to move/pivot. like you said....it was obvious. kid gave it a go and you have to credit him for that.

i'll bet he gets a 2nd surgery when the season is over. if that happens it will be curious what choices he makes. safe bet is he bets on himself and goes pro....but with a 2nd surgery i'm just not sure he is a 1st rounder that point.

I'd roll with Jelly and Mo at the four unless they are unrealistic about their market value.
You would have to land a Yaxel type to let both walk.
Kam and Hawthorne also give you options at the four since both are combo 3/4's.
If everyone comes back you only need a pg and an Oweh replacement.
More than 12 on scholarship is a waste imo.

Lesson learned. A program is better off getting 2-3 guys in the million dollar market. Take their willingness to play and desire to succeed hoping they blossom into consistent production.
I guarantee if Pope knew how this would play out he'd gladly have taken another 3 and D guy and definitely a backup PG.

If I am an NBA team, I'm not taking him in the top 20. Honestly, he's not that different than Vanderbilt was when he went to NBA. No offensive game more than 3' from the rim, with an injury that isn't fully healed.

I think the PF is a big need for us next year. I like Jelavic's potential like you said and maybe he will make some great strides over the next 2 months. If not I think we need a upgrade at that spot.

MM & JQ could split time but not sure if the budget could accommodate both. Just my opinion but I think we need a couple of studs brought in to compliment MM KW & CC. Would rather see us spend $ on a couple of elite portal guys.

At PG we definitely need a good backup if Pope keeps JL. If not we need a big time PG to come in to run the show. Regardless we gotta have a backup as well. Its inexcusable that we dont have a backup PG especially after what we went through last year.
I think at PG, Pope has to be thinking add a starter, not a backup. If Lowe returns, he can either be the backup, or get the chance to beat out the other guy to start. But we can't count on him to be 100% healthy enough to be the starter. Also, he does have the big hole in his game (shooting) and didn't seem that great at getting teammates involved.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Twin Towers look of MM & JQ. I think Moreno could have a nice 15' game next year. And no doubt a healthy JQ could guard any PF/4. But if you did that, you need to make sure all 3 other guys on the floor can make shots/3's.

i bet most see his ceiling to be someone like jalen duren. most of his shots are within 10 feet. get you 17 and 10, blocks, steals shoot around 65% from the floor and defend at a high level.
