Edit: One of my former neighbors here in Boone NC played for Madden and won a Superbowl. Dave Rowe (from NJ and PSU) was a defensive end. I'm sure Dave's taking the loss hard. Terrific guy. Had to move off the mountain (to Greensboro) as his wife couldn't handle the elevation any longer.

Big reason I was a Raider fan. Born in the 70s so really too young to appreciate him. What he made them and left behind is why I was a Raider fan as a kid. Summerall and Madden together again.

Madden and Summerall were both drafted players who you could tell loved football individually, but broadcasting together they were a great magnifier of any game they did. Little games felt big and big games felt bigger. Madden always liked the Giants' games because he said the fans understood and loved defense - which the Giants were very good at in Madden/Summerall era
