Does anyone know how many of his former assistants are now Head coachs. Side note out of that group who would you be most confident with replacing him when he is done.

The ladies came out flat in the first set. Finally came alive in the second. Lexi is dropping bombs on them

Need to work the portal this spring. Losing a lot of talent in Sweet, Sun, Stivrins and Densberger.

Don’t they get an extra year like football and basketball?
Shoot, didn't think of that. My thought was that the seniors are much stronger overall than the Juniors. Some of the younger players look promising, but none seem to be able to dominate at least yet.

Our football coach could learn a lot about winning from our volleyball coach

Dumb argument. He’d go winless in football. He’s figured out the formula with 18-22 year old, largely affluent young women. He knows how to hire with his sport’s ranks. I don’t know why people think that means he can coach anything. He’s a great leader but there’s way more to it than that to be successful especially when you get to the D1 level. I’m sure there’d some interesting ideas on leadership and program building but they’d be largely anecdotal.

how big of a role did Terry Pettit have in Cook's success and subsequent coaching tree?

does Pettit = Devaney and Cook = Osborne using a Neb football analogy

obviously the vb coaching tree is much better than the football's

This is really interesting. At the HS level, coaches that were really good at one sport usually were good at the other sports that they coached BUT a lot of that probably has more to do with the talent the school has.

I have been on staffs where the head BB coach was really good and basically voluntold bo be on the football staff and well, their interest faded really fast. They were usually good with the basics, discipline, accountability, that stuff, but as far as coaching a sport outside of their passion they kind of sucked.

I also new a coach that had to take over soccer after building a really good wrestling program. He knew nothing about soccer, I mean it, nothing, and won a state championship. But he even said it was just because the team was really good.

Yes. They do. sun has stated she hasn’t decided yet, but is taking this season in as if it’s her last, so that she doesn’t hold anything back. And without there being a major professional opportunity in VB, it wouldn’t shock me if a higher percentage of player take advantage of it and get some more grad classes paid for

Wonder if he’d be a good AD when Moos moves on?

not all good coaches can. And some great ADs were never coaches

Cook is doing what Petit did when he brought Cook in as an assistant. Hildebrand came back after an year away. Wouldn't surprise if there isn't a succession plan there.

They can come back if they want, just like fb and bball
If they’re interested in more PT, it’s not likely to come at NU. They’ve both contributed at times, but Haley has always been a role player and Jazz seems to have lost her spot to Zuhn. And as previously mentioned, the incoming recruiting class won’t make things any easier for them.

John Cook is not afraid to play the best player regardless of how long they have been in the program. Many incoming players have taken spots from veteran starters over the years. You have to keep earning playing time on the Nebraska Volleyball team. Winking

Can't answer the question but will say, John Cook is an amazing VB Coach and will go down as one of the best ever.

I'm the most confident in the one he has locked up right now. Dude can flat out coach and think he may end up being better than Cook himself.
