I know averaging 8 points at a mid major isn't going to make anyone jump for joy, but Morton is pretty good backup option all things considered.

Big guard that can play the 1 or 2, shoot with efficiency, make the right play, and isn't going to be a liability on defense. Haven't been able to watch much of his recent stuff but those condensed highlights against Gonzaga (a team that embarrassed us) shows me a guy who belongs at that level.

Texas A&M also recruiting him and I trust Bucky's eye for talent.

Clear upgrade over who our backup G was for majority of last season in Jasper. Better shooter, better game IQ, much better PG capabilities, and much better defender. Easy to picture this kid being the 8th/9th man on a really good team

Didn’t see it coming, but I think things are working out very well. Like Wilkins’ mid to long term potential better than Wright. More length and floor visibility and just seems like a very savvy player. Ndiaye has no injury history, seems to want to play rather than negotiate and play games, and has many tools to work with. He’s a matchup nightmare. Keep working Mark. The real fans are optimistic.

Morton should be a solid bench piece.
Seems to me the “real” fans are huffing glue right now. We are a couple major pieces away from even being competitive at the top of the league, let alone nationally or formidable.

I saw this post and must ask; is this the Dave Kersey who posted on the old RR?
Always liked reading his posts; whether or not things turned out exactly what he posted, it was always an honest post.
Must say if this is the same Dave Kersey, this is a much different group posting.
yeah, the same, didn't update. I think this is my 24th year reading and posting, but I started on other boards back in 1992

Thats not true ,that's ridiculous, they have three NBA maybe up to 6 in the roster now
Cal had top ranked top talent and couldn't win more than 1 ncaa championship. He is a choke artist compared to all that talent he had.
I just don't trust the ranking system compared to a lot of you guys.
SGA was a surprise to all of us and Cal wasted him, Booker, Ulis and other guys who should have been in games at crunch time.

Problem is we're taking all these backups and eventually with all the backups someone has got to start. Doesn't bode well when your job is on the line and you have to make a really long run in the NCAA tournament (like final four to Championship).
On point but he's not done yet. Having a solid bench is critical with all our injuries each year.
I get the sentiment however I think we may honestly get a couple starter caliber players.
I mean we just added a PF who can start. We have good guards coming in. If Moreno comes along (which worries me the most) we get another good shooting guard that can play 20 minutes a game and this looks solid to me.

Care to sell me on him? I'll admit I haven't watched him play (Washington State and Morehead aren't programs I see any games of) so what am I missing?
Way better contribution player than we’ve had last two years at the 1 or 2 spot after injuries.
Watched him play a few times in WCC games. Played a fairly tough non conference schedule & has been a 2+ year starter. He was runner up for Ky Mr Basketball + MVP State Championship. Worth the risk for a 2 year player if 5 in 5 passes.
15 scholarships - might as well use one on a Ky kid .

How original. Derp. Moron.
Lol, you mean original to the same response you've already given countless times?

Canadian Lol GIF

Does it need to be original if it's true?

Sans two players, and I’m being generous, all UK has is bench players!

But, that’s what UK is now… Bench Player U!

You know who’s having the last laugh?John Vincent Calipari 🤮
Is this the same Calipari who won 1 tournament game his last 4 seasons here? The same Calipari that had another loaded roster this season, but got smoked by Pope?

Just making sure who you’re talking about.

I disagree with that premise and if the five and five passes I think this coming team will be among the most exciting we put on the floor in a long time
It’s wild the hatred blinders supposed fans have now. Our entire starting 5 will likely be NBA players and drafted over the next 2 years. Diallo, Wilkins, Kam, Ndiaye and Moreno are all NBA level talents and will all most likely play in the league in the future. Here we have fans blasting that lineup and claiming they are all bench players. You can’t fix stupid. Now we need 3-4 more rotational guys and Kam may end up off the bench if we land another sure fire stud but that doesn’t change the fact that our entire top 5 as of today will all most likely be NBA draft picks. Now let’s land the stud we need and some legit backups and I’ll be excited for next season.

Weak sauce.

You were implying we would be loaded but I guess it was just a guess
you're right it is more or less a guess but I clearly indicated I was looking to the near future after three things happen. 1. Stokes comes our way, 2. 5 In 5 passes and becomes effective immediately. 3. Some of the guys drop out of the draft, and the staff keeps close on that, like Aday Mara for instance. It'll be a fun team to watch in my opinion. If those things happen favorably then I will place the bet

Former GRC high schooler who attended Morehead St and Washington St. At least he'll play for the name on the front of the jersey.

Yeah. As it stands, I don't see UK finishing in the top 6 of the SEC.

*Sidenote- I'm super impressed with what Sean Miller has done this off season. They'll be building on their unexpected run in the tournament.

Good to see you posting Dave. Hope your health is good. Wish we had an orlando tourney to meet at this summer.

If Pope is willing to take Oweh back, I will be overjoyed to have him back for another year. Our team would have a LOT of weapons.
Oweh was a good player but he needs a coach that can motivate him, get him to played every second on the floor. I could have been reading him wrong but he sometimes had a look that UK was the last place on earth he wanted to be.
I’ll have to take a pass on bringing Oweh back. Let the guys on the roster step into that leadership role

I get where you are coming from. For me, I think just about everyone "quit" last year at some point, including the fans. The Vandy game was a complete disaster on every level imaginable. Frustration was obviously running high and I thought the season was over at that point.

One of the plays that sticks out in my mind was a game (I forget which one) in which Oweh was wide open at the end but Lowe took an ill-advised shot instead of passing to Oweh and we lost. That was another sign of trouble with this team.

I find it interesting that some of our fans who quit the team are some of the same ones who are now talking about how the players quit. Well, to be honest, I think we ALL quit at some point. Personally, I just hope we can turn it all around and put last season in the rear view mirror!
