NBA says it didn’t count as an attempt in his stats.
soooooo, he was awarded points without an attempt?
He went 0-0 with 2 points; or are you saying it was counted as one attempt and one make 1-1?
I assume the second, but the first is more entertaining

it was 1/1 for 2 points. Throwing the ball off the backboard and dunking it looks no different in the box score or play by play than him just driving and dunking. It’s not a shot. It’s not a rebound. It’s not as assist. This has been explained. Been that way forever.

thank you and also Shawn. I guess I just assumed hitting the backboard counted as a shot attempt even if it obviously isn’t. Now I know I was wrong

It’s a subjective line in the intent. If it looked like he was trying to shoot it or toss it softly to the rim it would’ve counted as a shot.

His intent was pretty clear.

Here's my question to the board referees. Can you dribble, pick up your dribble, throw it off the backboard to yourself and then resume your dribble? If so can you do that using the opponents backboard?

I would think yes, just like throwing it off another player. Doesn't matter which backboard either.

Yes. No question. Hitting anything else resets your dribble, whether it be the backboard, rim, a ref, or another player.

It depends on how big your last contract was.
