Cal is anticipating the end of OAD and is essentially staring a new trend where kids take their senior year of high school and spend it at UK after reclassifying.

Then take what would have been the first year of college and play in the NBA. Cal is just setting up a new paradigm to outflank Silver's maneuvering. NBA would be forced to essentially make the league accessible to 17 year olds, and that risks all sorts of legal problems.

I think he's a better talent than Maxey but Maxey fits our needs better for next season.

If one of them has to reclass and one stay in 19 (I realize they're two independent people making separate choices) I hope Lecque stays and runs the point for us in 2020.

Great athlete and gets to where he wants to. His game is a lot like Archie Goodwin but better handles. Maxey is the better player though

I disagree. Scouts said he is possibly the best player in the class and Cal compared him to Wall.

Let me tell you boys something. This kid is really good. Maxey needs to stay put and this kid needs to come on in. Quick and can shoot and get to the rim. Good size too. Could be the best guard on our team next year if he comes. he is that good.

Why is high school four years?
Where else are you going to find free babysitting until they are "legal adults" in the eyes of the law and out of their parents house? (Kidding...kinda)

Now if you want to lower all the legal "adult" ages to 17 so then it could definitely be finished in 3 years.

Realistically it's likely 4 years for the students who need the extra time and struggle. But there are a lot of filler classes that aren't necessary and just take up time.

I like this kid better than Maxey. He said Cal compared him to Wall.
Helllllllll No. Maxey is better IMO. I honestly don't see this kid ever ending up here but he is a talent. But Maxey IMO is the 3rd best player in 19. Bet Maxey commits in the next month ( but stays in 19) .

So i think this solidifies that all the talk of “Cal is burnt out” and “not recruiting as hard” is 100% incorrect
Bro WRONG, that's not what you said while back. You were saying the opposite , make your mine up son.

2019 maybe. Cal is a salesman he's going to tell any pg they remind him of some stud he's coached. He will probably tell kyky he is the next Derrick rose

Curious why you don't see Lacque signing with UK?

Hagans is very likely, then it seems Maxey and Lecque are about the same chance of reclassifying. We should be hoping for Hagans, then Maxey then Lecque IMO. Lecque reminds me of Kobi Simmons at this point.

IQ is not considered OAD, his recruitment shows the change in Cal's strategy. I believe he is getting talent that he knows will remain at least 2 years. Baker, Here, and IQ seem to show that. Cal was lucky with SGA, he saw the potential but didn't see his rise to be so meteoric rise.
Hagans is considered an OAD. With Cal in talks with both Maxey and Leque it will be interesting to see what happens.
I truly believe that Cal is recruiting for best and worst case scenarios for 2019 and 2020, his last two years to get Ring with his son.
As it stands for 2019
Green/IQ/Hagans*
Baker/Herro
KJ/JV**
EJ/PJ**
Nick/WG**
*Committed
**In draft no agent
Still pursuing Maxey/Leque/Wiseman/Carey
Who all have been linked with both classes.
Ideally all in draft return and all four commit to UK...more likely both Maxey n Leque reclassify to join for 2019.
So possible Roster if happens
Green/Hagan's/Leque
Baker/IQ/Maxey
KJ/Herro--------{Backcourt can be any combination}
JV/PJ/EJ/WG/NR--------{frontcourt}
All 13 scholarship's used and a formidable squad. Definately a roster could be long and tall, shooters from every spot, defensive stoppers, fast and loose. Have some alpha dogs and gritty toughness that was lacking for last year w exception of PJ, late season Hami. Positionless and a 4 guard lineup with PJ for smallball or WG shooting or EJ or NR.
Alot of possiblities of lineups, feel more confident when May 30 passes...Go Big Blue!!!

The 2019 pg class is the greatest of all time... apparently.

What's weird about this thread is that people seem to be arguing about the wrong guys.

Cole Anthony went off over the weekend. 111 points in 4 games, 17/27 from 3 point range, 28/31 FT's.

He's the highest rated guard in the class from every source I see, and I would think a performance like that will only solidify that status.

I get that people are discussing the players that UK is involved with (and Anthony doesn't appear to be one of those for whatever reason- have to wonder if it has something to do with his father), but there is a bigger overall picture. Honestly, the guys UK is on look like good players, but Anthony is the only guy in the class who looks like he might be on the John Wall/Brandon Knight/De'Aaron Fox level.
