Hope that it is UCLA so it will be easier to transfer to his own university in a couple years.

Getting Berger would have been a public relations coup but far from a guaranteed home run. I'm always wary of rb's who post great stats at big time programs. Is it because they get to run through giant holes or because they happen to be really good? Those giant holes get a lot smaller in the Big Ten. Its all about vision and cutting ability at this level. Not saying he doesn't have it but Huggins was no Ray Rice despite being ranked way higher.

And Mason Robinson, Kordell Young and The Rocket Williams never lived up to their stars either. Meanwhile Pacheco may be better than Berger will ever be. So hard to tell with rb's until you see them in real games. Who knew Paul James would be so good?
Thought it was foolish thinking he'd choose us but will say pachy is VERY underrated

PSU sidelines thought very highly of him during game. Hes legit

I mean every single insider thought he was coming to RU until yesterday. You're not smarter or have better sources then them.

Lol...sources...Apparently so since i called it however, i do happen to know a certain someone who lives next to a certain someone:)

Common sense prevails here really. Ask yourself, why RU over Wisconsin? Be honest and answer it if you can

Why would any 4 star pick Rutgers ever then? Why did Bo Melton, Micah Clark and Tyshon Fogg pick Rutgers? They had many other offers. Where's the common sense?

You should ask that question to every recruiting insider.

You're missing the point which is what most fans do. Answer the question, objectively

Also, insiders know ****, ignore them

same reason Jeremy Zuttah and Anthony Davis picked Rutgers over tOSU. They believed in Greg and his vision for the future. Others wanted to leave NJ. Rutgers is a viable choice for 4*s
Zuttah was definitely a different situation and yime than Davis. The question is about, current team, make up, etc etc. Be objective and the reality of where we are now is what matters. Vision is grest but over next 4yrs, r oad to glory, wins, nfl is a hell of a lot better at Wisconsin than Rutgers

Greg gets players to the NFL and has a pretty good track record at doing so. Didn't he have the most players in the NFL at one point? He certainly had the most players in the Superbowl a year or two ago. Combine that with a short drive for family and friends to see you play. Those are some of the reasons it's worth staying around here.

It’s not negative. It’s a fact. People here were claiming he was a secret recruit before Schiano was hired. Seemed like quite a few actually. I’m just wondering what happened.
Because people built up schiano in their heads as this amazing hire that would result in instant gratification. I know I sound like a broken record but schiano was 100% a boomer hire, guys done nothing in the past decade to warrant a P5 HC job but yet our older fans just can’t get over living in the past thinking it’s 2006 and all the HS coaches still Think it’s 2006. It’s fine, I’ve said my piece and will continue to cheer for the team and hope I’m wrong.

No question if that is sole criteria Wisconsin is in better spot next year. Maybe next two. Not going to concede next four years. Question is what does young Jalen want in life? If his goal is NFL he can achieve it at Rutgers, UCLA and Wisconsin.

So discounting 3 guys named Edwards, Hillaman, and Martin all getting on NFL teams from Rutgers With the crappy lines we've had vs. What I expect us to have near future...

Sure he can but the road will be far mire difficult at ru right now. No debating that point. Academic rep, Wisconsin every bit and probably better. Objectively, a top recruit would most likely choose Wisconsin or a psu etc right now

Will you continue to tell us that Greg was not the right hire during the 2020 season?

Looks like you have staked out your position pretty well.

Pretty much anyone who experienced Rutgers football during his tenure here wanted him back including alumni, his ex players, Eric LeGrand etc. Definitely wasn't limited by Boomers.

So, don’t feel like quoting a bunch of you. But simple reason to stay home at Rutgers for a RB and 2020...
First and foremost- playing here so close to home has so many personal benefits to you and your family. Some will get this point and some won’t. But you get to a campus, let’s say Wisky or UCLA...first thing your parents should do...find a local parent or parents that can be there for your son immediately and for about 24-48 hrs until you can get there if he gets hurt in a game. Because he may be going into surgery before you can get a flight...
Anyway- with Ash, I’d say leave the state, don’t blame you. Greg, different thought on it. He will get Rutgers relevant again. You get to go to a minimum of 7 games each year, cost is so much less. RB is one position we have done well with and much more.
On the other hand- Wisky has a hell of a track record with RB. Far ahead of us on the field and it IS out of state.

Agree 100%. It's not easy to understand how a 18 year old makes a decision like this but recruits pick lower schools all the time. Just look at the 5 star kid that picked a local 3-9 Maryland team over one on its way to the CFP.

Boomer choice? What a trite, uninformed and unsophisticated thing to say. Just like calling someone a snowflake. Says so much more about the one saying it then the object of the comment.

I guess we know who will be out in force when are you struggles I guess we know who will be out in force when RU struggles next year as it clearly will. First sign of struggle and the yessirs will be out. Mark it down.

As for Berger year 1 and 2 Will be tough but by all accounts the future from there on out should be competitive. In the NFL is achievable from any of the choices

Most kids will pick Wisconsin or PSU over RU given the choice, today. The ones who believe in a brighter future for RU is coming may stay home. Regarding academics Wisconsin is the better school. No difference between RU and PSU. Not certain how many kids playing D1 football ultimately will pick a school due to academics. Unless they are going to Stanford, Northwestern, etc. You are going to get a good education at any of the schools noted above

It is all about the time line. RU is going to be a rebuilding mode for the next 2/3 years at least. Where is Wisky?
If you eliminate the emotions, and just go with practical...?

I'm not dissing GS...cause I think this is the player not the coach. But GS has been reported as having been tight with Berger for quite some time.

Again, he's not wrong and reading comp is important
Yes, and I said negative talking points being accurate doesn't make them relevant.

My point is you can make a negative argument about anyone if your intent is to skew the narrative. I can make a credible argument that Nick Saban is a washed up has been. But obviously its a stupid argument. Every program would want him as their coach. But every point in my argument would be true.

I believe he was actually the fastest player on the team most years. Another deceptively fast guy was Ryan D
Yeah but our fans aren’t that bright. I remember some calling him Jersey slow. He was deceptively fast like you said.

The timelines are much different than when Schiano was here before. Slow builds are passe. Navy won 2 games last year. Oregon won 4 two years ago and just won the Rose Bowl. Kids are more ready to play than ever coming in and the portal is it’s own fast fix animal.

Next year, on the field and in recruiting will be very telling.
