I havent said that in the past, why would I say it now?
What little I have commented on with regard to Jackson has been a general observation that it is 17ing broken and leaders act without professionalism.
I believe I said something to that effect a month or so ago when a girl official went on a rampage at a meeting. Goat then said something like 'you can't talk bad about Jackson'.

17 off. Not everything is cool here. We have crazies thst are threatening school board members because the angry mobs ignorantly follow Tucker and rhe extremist commentators who are claiming CRT is being taught when it isnt and that masks are slowly suffocating kids when they aren't.
They are disrupting school board meetings, following board members home, actively intimidating board members in the parking lot and outside of their homes, and asking board members to be arrested for treason(no lie).
In addition to getting all lathered up by TV and radio crazies, our governor and legislators spend the spring creating laws that give support to the baseless fears.
What's been funny is how little our governor has said about masks since an injunction was granted almost 1 month ago which allows school districts to have a mandatory mask policy. Instead, she has allowed the 1-issue school board candidates to do her bidding. That'll be fun to sit back and watch- any 1-issur school board members who are actually elected and have to learn about and handle all the issues a school board faces? Ha, what a group of 17nuts.

Step 1 is safety. Until the city is at least halfway secure nothing else matters. As someone in this thread says, they need new prosecutors and judges. Violent crime rarely happens in Madison/Rankin because that office prosecutes the **** out of that stuff. In Jackson you can literally murder someone and get house arrest. That just happened recently (Bully’s incident). Jackson’s lack of consequences for living outside the law recruits more crime to the city. The street guys from Canton, Flora, Florence, etc… often move to Jackson to pursue illegal endeavors. Bank/credit card scamming is currently so out of control in Jackson. Its wide-open wild. These scammers do stuff with their real IDs b/c they know there is zero recourse in Jackson. Forget water, business, and all that. Until there is a semblance of a law and order there will be no Jackson worth anything.
I've got tremendous respect for the ones who have stayed and invested in the City of Jackson, but my family would have been long gone years ago.
To me, this is a tipping point and the state should take action to begin the process of moving it's administrative hub out of this disgrace of a City. I don't know the process of doing that, but it needs to happen. NOTHING is going to change in that City and that should be clear to everybody. We've been talking about the crime problem in Jackson for 30 years now and absolutely NOTHING has changed. Time to cut the cord.

Anyone who believes CRT is not being taught in our schools and elsewhere is either hopelessly uninformed or a slave to ideology and knows better. CRT is a pernicious, racist ideology that rejects the founding principle of equality of all under the law. Fortunately, lines are being drawn and people of good will who want healthy and honest race relations are saying “enough” to the CRT nonsense. Doesn’t take much intelligence at all to see where CRT leads a society.

Could be like New Orleans though. Shooting on I10 almost every other day. I think one week about a month ago it was about 3-4 were killed on 10 in shootings. Mrs Benson needs to fund some high tech cams to put out there to catch whoever is doing it. Of course NOPD never releases that many details so you don't know too much.
The problem is pretty simply a lack of responsible leadership and that is continually getting worse across both parties.

The solution is to get out of the public school. The middle class is so damn enamored with 'schools' that they don't understand the big picture. CRT is synonymous with what they want the product of the public schools to be - lifeless worker bees. That's the goal, that's why they were created. And this is fine for the majority. None of that can work without proper cooperation from the state (and feds), which unfortunately has political motivations to not cooperate. Sending young adults to state prison for several year stints instead of probation, with the current status of our state prisons, will just result in them coming out as even worse criminals than when they went in.
Our entire nation does a poor job regarding rehabilitation in general, and especially for drug addiction and gang related crime. Jackson happens to heavily suffer from those sources of crime. We literally aren't even attempting to solve the problems Jackson is facing. I really don't know what the city could do about it on its own. I guess just give up and forfeit control to the state. At least then it would be understood that it is state action that is needed, and maybe that would lead to improvement. But I can understand why city leaders would be loathe to turn control over to a state that has no interest in improving the city.

Jackson isn't the same Jackson of years gone by. A lot of you seem to think everything was just peachy keen 'back in the day' and if you were white that was true but over in the black part of town it was about the same as it is for the entire city now. Now what few white folks are left get to experience what black Jacksonians have lived with for decades. Having said that it is not about the color of the skin of the folks running the place, it's about the lack of revenue to properly operate the city AND some gross incompetence on part of those that manage the city. If you think the city was better managed 'back in the day' you are grossly incorrect. The white parts of the city were better off because that's where the majority of tax money was spent, the black parts of town were given the band aid approach. Now that the demographics of the elected leadership has changed and along with that the priorities of where to spend money folks are finding out there isn't enough green to go around so now the entire city is suffering, not just the minority neighborhoods.
If you look back to the Jackson of just the 1980's and 1990's you will see a sharp drop in local industries that provided jobs and tax revenue. On Hwy 80 used to be Hardin's Bakery, Westinghouse, Armstrong Tile, on Boling St used to be Frito lay and a few others, on N. State St used to be Presto, US Steel and several others. All these were good jobs within the city limits and an easy bus ride for a lot of residents. Now they are all gone along with the tax revenue they used to generate. Some went overseas (NAFTA) and some just went because corporate offices just made decisions to move elsewhere. Joblessness followed, then crime went up, then the great white flight to the suburbs. All of this left Jackson in an unenviable position. Decaying infrastructure and dwindling amounts of tax base to fund its' repair.
Jackson's problems have been decades in the making. Back in 'the good ol days' if you wanted to do business with the city of Jackson you needed to know whose palms to grease so you could. The 'good ol boy' network ran Jackson until well into the 80's and they were just as corrupt, greedy and just plain stupid as many of you think todays city management is, they just kept those parts of town mostly frequented by white folks looking and running good, the other parts of town, well not so much.
It will take a combined effort on behalf of Jackson, Hinds Co. and the State and maybe the US gov't to come together to solve the problems Jackson has but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for this to happen. Crime will definitly one of the top priorities. Attracting some industry and/or legitimate jobs of any kind should be close behind.

Unfortunately not everyone has the option to take their kids out of public school. And when involved parents start abandoning the public schools, they fall into the hands of corruption.
