Walked by him at the Kroger Field parking lot once. Threw my fist up for a bump, he bumped it. We didn’t need words. Respect both ways was given
Wow, you are fortunate. I saw him and James Lee at a football game their junior year. As I walked by them about 20 feet away, I raised my hand and nodded to them. They did the same back at me. They were very respectful of the fans.
I will always remember the night that the goose got loose against the Dookies.

Used to see him in the old Computer Lab during the 1977-78 season. A few times he was using a work station next to mine and he was very friendly and outgoing.
Obviously we will have cloned Goose, but what upsets me is that Duke is still relevant in 58 years.
I’ve been friends with Jack since we were high school classmates. I went to UK largely so I could watch him play. Was there for both the 1975 and 1978 Final Fours. Have seen him many more times over the years including all of our Bryan Station 1974 class reunions. The first time I brought my kids to Rupp turned out to be the 25th reunion of the 1978 team and I got pictures of him with them.
A couple of years ago I went to the Virginia Tech game at Rupp by myself, and ran right into him in the stands. Walked out with him and he patiently stopped to greet and sign stuff for everyone who came up to him. At the Atlanta regional in 2018 he signed a bunch of posters and books about the 1978 Championship team. He even paid to mail a poster to me because I didn’t want to carry it on the plane.
He is a great person, great dad and now grandfather too.

Goose scored the second most points (41) ever in the championship game, and tournament MOP.
