That is funny, but since a college coach's primary job is recruiting it is concerning to hire a guy who has been out of the college game for 8 or 9 years.

It’s funny to me how many people still think being a successful HC in the NFL and being a successful HC in college require the same skill set or required previous resume experience. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Judge was a NFL head coach one day (ETA: or now). He’s a lot closer to that point resume-wise than he is to being ready to run a college program.

I do think it's 90% the same skillsets. It's not like the HC is primarily recruiting every single kid a school talks to OR that it's 24/7/365.

A lot more NFL coaches have success in the NCAA ranks than NCAA coaches have in the NFL ranks. Rhule will be back in 2-3 years.

I think we still have collective PTSD. The last NFL position coach we hired didn’t turn out so well.

Much more concern about his qualifications as a D1 HC than as an NFL HC. He has lived and breathed the NFL for a good while now whereas he really doesn't have much of any experience in what is needed to run a college program. He did work under Saban I believe but really not sure what all responsibilities he had there. But an NFL HC versus a D1 P5 HC are really 2 different animals. Just ask Saban or Spurrier.

Like who? I don't know that you're wrong, but are there a lot of guys that moved from the NFL to the NCAA and had big-time success? Herm Edwards seems off to a pretty good start, but I'd say it's too early to tell. Al Groh was okay at UVA. I guess you might say Harbaugh, but he was successful in college first.
