It's an easy call the other way. One guy can throw the ball 30 yards on a line, the other guy cannot.
you mad? you didn't like what I have to say, that's cool.. you don't have to. I can and have been wrong. I just have reservations on this Matt guy as a HC, if that is who they hire. I could be wrong.. so what. I can have an opinion can't I? It's a free country and a free message board, so

Rhule - the lazy hire anyone would make. Might get bowl eligible, but would flame out by year three.
BoB - about as good a hire as nebraska could make at this point. Doesn't have a high ceiling, but would be consistent 6-7 game winner
MJ - would look like a horrible hire by year 2. just not ready
Patterson - retread hire just grabbing a check, would do about as good as Riley did

Bill O’Brien is - by far - the most successful Belichick disciple

comparing his NFL stint (multiple division titles) to Rhule’s (zero winning seasons) is beyond stupid
Why do people think BoB did bad in the NFL?

He did pretty good.

LOL, according to this genius, the best we could do (BoB) will get us 6-7 wins a year.

I seriously don’t know how you’ve lasted so long here. Your trolling is terrible, your personality is douchey, and your IQ is minuscule.

Get lost once and for all, and take facecard with you.

because many here stopped watching the men's league when their butts got hurt by politics

or because many more want to ignore certain parts of these coaches' resumes (year zero! NFL is different! etc.) out of blind hope after having been so thoroughly hook, line and sinkered by the dick ginger who used to coach here

you can't get a feel for the guy and how he is handling some easy questions from the press by that clip? I even queued it up for you.. that little bit of pressure made him squirm uncomfortably and he started trying to get the media to go easy on him.. that tells me everything I need to know about him.
I didn't see any issue with that clip. Obviously super frustrated, obviously knows he's going to get fired, looked like a fairly normal interaction in that situation. I don't know much about him as a coach, but that clip didn't tell me anything.

Year zero is the most amazing thing ever created...Just to tell your bosses and fans that the first year just magically doesn't matter, unreal!

What do you disagree with? Pretty much been popular opinions around here on all of them. What do you think Rhule does consistently here if he gets hired?

an extremely large majority here have already bought what pj fleck sold (Year Zero)

I cannot imagine how low expectations will be next year for the new coach from the same people who are upset about an interim coach not making a bowl game after being on staff for 8 months

I'm not really an MJ guy as coach. I really don't know who will come in and have the success we all want. But with that said. I absolutely don't understand the negative reactions he gets. These same people screaming about MJ not succeeding better be screaming if a new coach next year doesn't make a bowl game in year one.

MJ can not fix in 8 months what this program has gone through for 5 years. Especially in the majority of those 8 months he was responsible for one position group.

Ruhle has:
played in the B1G as an LB.
coached the DL, ST, LBs, QBs(wtf?), OL and TEs.
been an OC (wtf?).
been a recruiting coordinator.
college and NFL coaching experience.

Dude has a rep for rehabbing dumpster fire programs and has about as varied a coaching experience as one can imagine. Sign him up day after the Iowa game.

they won't

excuses will far outnumber wins in year 1 and likely year 2

meanwhile, the posters talking out of both sides of their mouth will act indignant at the accusation

Mickey is largely blameless in this saga. He didn't injure Thompson and he wasn't responsible for the recruitment and development of the NU OL and DL.

Can we at least find a guy who doesn't dress like a fan? Maybe shaves more than once a month? Maybe one who wears a necktie under a pullover half-zip? I miss Bob Devaney's old porkpie hats. And TO's polyester Sans-a-Belts.

Signed,

Karen
I WAS with ya 1000% until ya mentioned Dr. Tom and his disco wardrobe. Polyester britches, white plastic belt, and the white Cousin Eddie gold buckled loafers.

Get a guy like Tom Landry dressed? Start a new trend.

it was the part where he started pleading with the press.. 'c'mon guys, blah blah' that is what really raised the eyebrows for me. He basically 'lost frame' in that moment and gave the power to the press.

I see mickey as a fine offensive mind, and after 25 years ready to become a oc. (long overdue I might add)
a mr. rhule or perhaps a mr. leopole would be proper at hc to work along side mickey to bring a logical offense back to Nebraska.

I wish one of our own could coach us. Mickey just didn’t have the experience a hungry fan base demands. Certainly one of us! I’d like him retained on the staff if possible. Good luck Coach!

Yeah, that would have been fun! I just don't think Trev would hire him. Moos would have got him, for sure.
I actually agree with this and also thought about this. While i think Lane would be our best hire (IMO) Trev and Lane's personalities would be hard to mesh together. Who knows tho what the hell do i know

I know we have all heard about the record vs ranked teams but that is a little concerning being he is 3-15 overall (0-10) at Baylor. If he is the guy we could have done much worse though given he has turned two teams around.
Kinda where Im at.

I thought he had way better measurables yes. CT isn't even 6 feet tall. He' prob 5'10 at best. He's not going pro as a QB. Purdy is what, 6'5" and his older brother got lucky, so it was an easy call to make based on that alone.

Purdy still has better NFL chances than Casey, but as of right now, neither of them are going pro as QB's.
Purdy is listed at 6'2" and 210#'s.
