Rewatching the 2019 Big 12 championship. Rhule built a pretty damn good team. All the talk about his record against ranked teams and his NFL stint is silly.

Well, he's turned around two programs that were in the toilet. Not many other candidates can say that. He'd probably get us back to bowl games every year, but probably not competing for championships. A low-risk, yet low-reward hire IMO.

He took a playoff bound OU to OT in the 2019 Big 12 championship. Not sure why you think he couldn't accomplish similar here.

The Big 12 was terrible in 2019, other than Oklahoma there wasn't another good team in the league, and he lost to OU twice. He barely beat some of the worst teams on the schedule that year like Rice, Texas Tech, and TCU. Their non-conference schedule was a joke. They often struggled in the 2nd half of games that year.

I think we could do a lot worse, he seems like a coach who does a good job of changing the culture. I don't think he's a very good Xs & Os/Gameday coach. And I'm not sure he's a guy that recruits will be excited to play for.

I feel that he wasn’t at Baylor long enough to judge his close wins against the bad teams. If he were there for 3 or 4 years, I am guessing he would beat them worse as each year passed.

But then again, maybe not. I don’t know.

Yeah this is all over everywhere now. Reddit, Discord etc. No idea if this is true but seems like a lot of smoke.

You could be right....but it's hard to say, because he's never stayed at one place for more than a few years. It could just be that he caught lightning in a bottle that one year at Baylor like Frost did at UCF. Baylor was 2-7 the year after he left.

Another thing is that he seems like he's very loyal to his assistants...he brought a lot of his assistants from Temple to Baylor, and then brought them to Carolina. I hope he will be willing to go out and hire a great staff, and not just hire his old buddies.

If it's Rhule, I give it 2 years tops before it all unravels. That guy isn't going to be able to handle things here. Calling that right now. It would change my opinion of TA as well if he hires that chump.

Your last sentence sums it up. Very underwhelming if true. Retread hire, very Cally like

Yeah, or he is going to absolutely kill it and will be a god here.

Based on a press conference during his stint in the NFL? I just don't see the correlation. He had success in college and not the NFL. Not the first time we have seen that. Not being argumentative or saying I'm a Rhule guy. I just vision seeing negative reactions on whomever is hired.

you can't get a feel for the guy and how he is handling some easy questions from the press by that clip? I even queued it up for you.. that little bit of pressure made him squirm uncomfortably and he started trying to get the media to go easy on him.. that tells me everything I need to know about him.

BOB is over rated - his performance here in PA was very average at a time when the Big ten was down. He is a slob and cranky ...and will bolt to the NFL at the first offer.

I don't care about press conferences, I care about winning games. But I also have NO OPINION on any new hire until he proves his worth on the field at Nebraska. AND whoever the hire is, Rhule or somebody else, we won't know that until next Fall.

Nebraska has been winning press conferences for years and still has not been to a bowl in 5 years. Trev said it himself. Not looking to just win at the pressers.

I know we have all heard about the record vs ranked teams but that is a little concerning being he is 3-15 overall (0-10) at Baylor. If he is the guy we could have done much worse though given he has turned two teams around.

First we need to start beating the unranked teams

Can we at least find a guy who doesn't dress like a fan? Maybe shaves more than once a month? Maybe one who wears a necktie under a pullover half-zip? I miss Bob Devaney's old porkpie hats. And TO's polyester Sans-a-Belts.

Signed,
